According to Tesla, the vast majority of electric car users no longer use the key fob to unlock the car, but open it with a smartphone. This statistic swayed the company to the idea of ​​making the key fob optional and excluding it from the mandatory bundle for standard delivery. Many manufacturers are adding the functionality of unlocking their cars using a smartphone as an option, and so far only Tesla has decided to stop equipping cars with key fobs.
