T-Mobile and SpaceX will cover almost the entire territory of the United States with cellular communication

On August 25, T-Mobile CEO and President Mike Sievert and SpaceX Chief Engineer Elon Musk announced a new

plan to provide cellular coverage forthroughout the United States, according to the press service of T-Mobile. Using Starlink, a constellation of SpaceX satellites in low Earth orbit, and T-Mobile cellular, Un-carrier plans to provide near-complete coverage in most locations in the US — even in the most remote locations previously inaccessible to traditional cellular. To provide this service, the companies will create a new network broadcast from Starlink satellites using T-Mobile's mid-band across the country. This satellite-to-cellular service will provide nearly complete coverage virtually anywhere a customer can see the sky, the company promises. Beta testing in selected areas will begin at the end of next year after the scheduled launches of SpaceX satellites.

“Today, despite powerful wireless networksLTE and 5G, more than half a million square miles of the US, and vast swaths of the ocean are unaffected by cellular signals… ANY provider… most often due to land use restrictions (e.g. national parks), terrain restrictions (e.g. mountains, deserts, etc.). ). In these areas, people are either disconnected or paying exorbitant amounts of money to lug around a satellite phone," the company said in a statement. The vast majority of smartphones already connected to T-Mobile's network will be compatible with the new service.
