Sony and G+D presented a new generation electronic SIM card – iSIM

Sony in collaboration with Giesecke+Devrient (G+D)has developed an integrated SIM management (iSIM) platform called AirOn360. Unlike previous generation solutions, it allows all client devices to centrally change their “registration” in mobile networks.

iSIM chip ALT1350, developed by Sony, was introduced in November last year. It is built directly into the device processor and allows you to connect to the network of any operator. Unlike eSIM, such a chip does not take up extra space in the case and consumes less energy.

A feature of the chip was the abilitycentralized administration using RSP, a popular industrial automation platform. For example, a user or company can quickly launch a number of IoT devices without having to manually configure each one. All gadgets will also be able to switch to another network simultaneously.

ALT1350 chip supports LTE, 3G, 4G, 5G,satellite communications, GPS, GLONASS, OneSKU frequency range and other technologies. The manufacturer has not yet announced which devices will be the first to receive the new iSIM module.
