Positioning

The situation in the Russian smartphone marketis gradually stabilizing in terms of prices, at least the models that have already been released are systematically rolled back in value to acceptable indicators. The entry of new gadgets into the market is often accompanied by initial discounts, which later turn into fixed prices.

So, apparently, it happens in the budgetrealme line. The realme C35 model that arrived for the test comes to replace the C25 / C25S and carries a number of changes at the hardware level, both positive and not, we will return to them as we get to know the new product.

5 facts about realme C25S (RMX3195)

A small quality upgrade, NFC, a huge battery and sane cameras… The ideal state employee?

But, undoubtedly, the greatest emphasis is placed onappearance, ergonomics and tactile experience. At least if you put a new smartphone and one of its predecessors mentioned next to each other, then the difference in the exterior is very noticeable. So you can’t immediately determine that you have a model in the segment up to 20,000 rubles.

The history of pagers - two-way communication, communicators and the decline of technology

The emergence of two-way pagers, an attempt to abandon the proper name, the decline of technology and who uses such devices today.

Design, dimensions, controls

We take out the smartphone from the branded yellow box, andflat frames made of dark matte plastic with sharply defined, but not sharp edges immediately attract attention. The first contrast after the previous devices of the C-series is evident. This decision makes the grip more reliable, which is good, especially since there is no cover in the package. Plastic frames from the side can be easily mistaken for metal, when touched, everything falls into place.

From the textured back realme C25 decided heremove away, glossy plastic is used. Again, from the side it creates a complete impression of glass, and the tactile sensations are similar. Nominally black in good light gives off blue and cyan, the effect is quite pronounced.

There are also aesthetic disadvantages in comparison with mattetextured plastic of past models. The back cover quickly collects fingerprints and dust around the neat camera unit. So if you like a clean back, then be prepared to wipe, dirt is removed quickly. But externally, the smartphone will please the eye.

The camera module contains three lenses andflash. Not without an inscription, in my opinion, it is superfluous here. The panel is of medium thickness, the smartphone lying flat on the table wobbles when you press the upper left corner, there is a slight play when you press the lower right edge of the screen.

The top end of realme C35 is free from slots andconnectors, this immediately tells us that there is only one speaker in the smartphone, we decided not to flirt with the idea of pseudo-stereo when the speech speaker on top tries to work out as a second full-fledged one. In this segment, the solution, in my opinion, is justified, although the effect of two speakers may not be enough for someone.

Headphone jack comes to the rescuelocated at the bottom in the company of the Type-C port and slots for the speaker and microphone. The main controls are located on the side panels of the smartphone: on the left there are two buttons for volume control, on the right is the power button gracefully recessed into the surface of the panel, which is also a tolerably working fingerprint scanner.

Ergonomics verified, except that the power button could be moved a little lower to the middle of the side panel. Using a smartphone is convenient, there are no problems.

The experience from the first acquaintance and subsequent use is unexpectedly pleasant, the phone looks and feels more expensive than its money, it seems to me that in the green version this effect will manifest itself even brighter.

Display

Of course, when looking at the display and its teardropcutout for the front camera, as well as plump bezels, especially under the screen, it immediately becomes clear that it belongs to budget devices. Thank you for not HD +, as in the previous generation. An increased refresh rate was not delivered, apparently, we are waiting for the next generation.

The screen is made using IPS technology and is protectedglass Panda Glass and factory film. The brightness has remained almost at the level of the previous generation, in auto mode it will be 600 nits at the peak. In real conditions under the bright sun, the readability of the display suffers significantly, even if you use a light interface design theme. In other scenarios, there is no discomfort.

Despite the absence of 90 Hz and increased frequencysampling of the sensor layer, commands are processed at an adequate speed. Not a flagship level, of course, but not stumbling animation on the verge of "freezes". The set of screen settings is close to the basic one, there is an option to lower the resolution in games and improve the color gamut in supported applications (out of the box - YouTube, Duo, Google Files and Google Photos).

It is clear that in this price segment to requirea lot from the display would be strange, but I think that the use of a screen cutout in combination with thin frames would benefit the realme C35, especially if you continue to bend the line proposed by the manufacturer with the design.

Battery and performance

Let's start with the processor. In the previous generation, the MediaTek Helio G85 (hello, Transsion!), which had already set a mouth on many, was used, here they decided not to go away from 12 nm, but the choice was made in favor of the Unisoc Tiger T616, a not so well-known and relatively newer chip with the same cores in a similar layout .

Despite the identity on paper, from the point of viewin terms of overall performance, a step forward has been taken. The use of the UFS 2.2 permanent memory format solves: faster data exchange slightly, but significantly speeds up the smartphone. Synthetic tests almost without exception put the Unisoc Tiger T616 higher than its counterpart in the realme C25S, except that the performance in the Geekbench single-core test is slightly lower within the margin of error.

Energy efficient core layout combined withscreen at 60 Hz will not make the owner of realme C35 worry that the battery will run out at the most inopportune moment. Yes, it’s not 6000 mAh, like its predecessor, but 5000 mAh is enough for a comfortable one and a half to two days of mixed use without games and hardcore viewing of your favorite YouTube channels.

As you can see just above, syntheticThe PCMark autonomy test gave a result of just over 14 hours, very worthy. But for what you can scold the manufacturer a little, it's for supporting charging at only 18 watts. It seems to me that the smartphone would definitely benefit from the transition to 33 watts. But, probably, then the cost would have stepped over the mark of 20,000 rubles. A full charge using a standard adapter will take a little over an hour and a half.

Communication options

It is gratifying that they did not forget about NFC, payment via Mir Pay and registration of Moscow transport cards work without problems. GPS in places is thoughtful, but in general there are no complaints about the accuracy of work.

The interlocutors did not notice during voice callsany problems with speech transmission, I tested it with Yota in different parts of the city, including in the subway. Call recording is not provided. They left the headphone jack, which is important for smartphones in this segment.

Camera

Everything goes to the fact that in mid-budget smartphonesin the near future, we will see less and less camera modules added solely for the sake of a beautiful number. But for now, this trend is still with us, and realme C35 can also be attributed to such devices.

And if you can still come up with a macro cameraapplication, then the 0.3 MP black-and-white sensor could definitely be removed. Write in the comments if you think such sensors are useless or if it is important for everyone to see exactly the number of cameras from the outside.

The main module has a resolution of 50 MP and producesAs expected, good shots in sufficient lighting. Switching to 50MP improves detail, as you can see when zooming in on the final frame. In automatic mode, the illumination of the frame is slightly better, which was also to be expected. In places, HDR gives objects unnaturally bright colors, this is a matter of taste, someone likes this option too.

Night shooting at an average level, even dedicatedthe mode does not really help to cope with the "noise" of the dark sky, the dynamic range in this mode is weak. There are several additional shooting modes (Pro, time-lapse, shooting with filters), the camera interface can be called ascetic.

There are a number of camera settings, only basicthings. According to the video, everything is also without a wow effect, there is no stabilization, the shooting modes rested on the bar of 1080p with 30 frames per second. The general impression of the camera is that it is quite possible to shoot during the day, the quality is adequate, albeit without the masterpieces of mobile photography. As they say, there would be desire and perseverance.

Software

The smartphone is based on realme R interfaceedition. Behind this name lies Android Go, a lightweight and visually simplified version of the shell, flavored with the appearance of realme UI. Most of the standard software tools are represented by utilities from Google, from pre-installed third-party applications - WhatsApp, TikTok and WPS Office.

The interface works smartly, lightnessit is felt only in the absence of some settings inherent in the full version of realme UI, visually everything is very similar. I am sure that undemanding users will not notice the striking differences. During testing, I did not highlight any critical points for myself that could adversely affect the user experience.

Competitors, impressions

At the time of writing, the cost of realme C35is 16,990 and 18,990 rubles, depending on the amount of permanent memory. There are plenty of alternatives in this segment: Redmi 10 with its 4 cameras and 90 Hz support, Infinix Note 11, which swung at 6 GB of RAM, a 16 MP front camera and 33 W charging. Look good against realme 9i and Tecno Camon 19 Neo.

Smartphone review realme 9i (RMX3491)

The basic smartphone of the series, a strong emphasis on energy efficiency, a calm design, everything you need on board…

The result for the smartphone is as follows:the model is 100% suitable for those users who do not care about breakthrough performance, want to have a beautiful device for sane money and at the same time not feel it is secondary and budget.

I repeat, if not for the design of the display and cutoutcameras, the realme C35 could easily be mistaken for a more expensive device. The exterior of the back is captivating, the manufacturer coped with this task. Compromises? Not without them, both in design and hardware, but the price remained pleasant. I think the device will definitely find its buyer.
