Smart visor Bosch will protect drivers from the sun (4 photos)

During a bright sunny day, the risk ofaccidents caused by a decrease in driver’s visual acuity increase by 16%, according to special statistics. Traditional sun visors are not always effective. Bosch developers have created smart devices to protect the driver’s eyes from blinding sunlight and at the same time do not block the driver’s field of view.

A device called Virtual Visor is created onbased on a transparent LCD panel, the area of which is divided into hexagonal cells. In working condition, the panel independently determines which cells should be darkened to ensure optimal comfortable visibility and at the same time protect the driver’s eyes from bright light. Based on data from the built-in cameras, the artificial intelligence that controls the visor determines which sectors should be darkened to create a shadow.

New presentation at CES 2020Bosch Virtual Visor has been nominated for Best Innovation. The developer company has not yet announced the fate of the device. Probably, it can be integrated into the video control system created earlier and involving monitoring the behavior of the driver and passengers through internal cameras.
