Saturday coffee #202

The week turned out to be not the most interesting in terms of news, there were a couple of high-profile announcements from the Chinese, and the rest was trifles.

So, there was information that the smartphone NothingPhone (1) will be released on July 21, and its price will be 500 euros. According to preliminary data, the device will receive a translucent back cover and the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 processor. Of course, it will work with its own shell, which can already be previewed on any smartphone.

Apple has been rumored to be in talks to buy video game publisher Electronic Arts (EA). Also potentially interested in buying or merging with EA are Disney and Amazon.

According to insiders, on July 5, Xiaomi will releaseXiaomi Mi 12 Ultra Might smartphone with Leica cameras and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor. As with other smartphones, the Leica nameplate will be more of a marketing ploy designed to stimulate interest in the product than really something worthwhile in terms of cameras.

About the fresh Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 processor, which will be used in the new product, we wrote here:

Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1: hit or miss?

We are constantly writing about new chipsets if they are of interest. Can you say that about the first Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1?

And we even published a separate article about marketing in smartphone cameras this week:

Zeiss, Leica, Hasselblad - additional marketing of cameras in smartphones

Optics manufacturers whose names are on smartphone cases - marketing or real differences in the quality of cameras and photography? Let's figure this out together.

This week, a deal was closed to transfer the share of the French automaker Renault in AvtoVAZ to the control of the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Central Research Automobile and Automotive Institute NAMI.

And the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, said that the former Renault plant in Moscow will produce modern cars, in the future these will be electric cars, and not the old Moskvich models.

Xiaomi presentation

The main event of the week is, of course,a presentation by Xiaomi, where the manufacturer presented several products at once. The first is the Xiaomi Band 7 smart bracelet. The device received a larger 1.62-inch AMOLED display (the predecessor had 1.56 inches), the Always-On display function, for which a large number of dials were optimized, and a capacious 180 mAh battery, which is enough for two weeks of battery life. Also among the changes are constant monitoring of blood oxygen levels, support for more than 100 sports workouts and the ability to compete with friends.

Start of sales of Xiaomi Band 7 is scheduled for May 31,the price of the device in China will be 239 yuan (about 2,350 rubles) for the regular version and 279 yuan (about 2,750 rubles) for the bracelet version with NFC. On Aliexpress, the novelty has already appeared on sale, but the price is slightly different, sellers on average ask 3,500 rubles for the regular version.

The second novelty of the company is a series of smartphonesRedmi Note 11T, which includes two models - Redmi Note 11T Pro and 11T Pro +. The devices are equipped with identical 6.6-inch IPS displays with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. In addition, the Mediatek Dimensity 8100 chipset is responsible for performance in both devices. Smartphones will be released in versions with 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128, 256 or 512 GB of permanent memory. The novelties received a block of three cameras - the main one at 64 MP, the ultra-wide-angle lens at 8 MP and the macro lens at 2 MP. The front camera in Note 11T Pro is represented by a 20 MP sensor, and in the older model, the selfie camera received 32 MP.

Redmi Note 11T Pro has a battery installed on5000 mAh, 67W fast charging supported. The Redmi Note 11T Pro+ has a smaller 4400mAh battery, but it can charge in just 19 minutes thanks to 120W fast charging. Both smartphones have in their arsenal of stereo speakers with support for Dolby Atmos and Bluetooth 5.3.

The start of sales of the new line in China is also scheduledon May 31st. The Redmi Note 11T will cost from 1,699 yuan (about 17,000 rubles) for the 6/128 GB version to 2,099 yuan (about 21,000 rubles) for the 8/256 GB version. The price for Redmi Note 11T Pro + 8/128 GB starts from 1999 yuan (approximately 20,000 rubles) and goes up to 2,399 yuan (approximately 22,700 rubles) for the 8/512 GB version. The limited edition Note 11T Astro Boy 8/256GB will cost 100 yuan more and will be available for purchase on June 18th.

If Redmi smartphones turned out to be curious and notmoreover, although I would take a closer look at the Astro Boy version, the new smart bracelet is much more interesting. Large display, finally the Always-On function and at the same time the same 2 weeks of battery life. And the price of Xiaomi Band 7 is still affordable, which makes the device truly popular.

As for Xiaomi, we have released two reviews of the company's smartphones this week:

Nice tablet from realme

Realme Pad X 5G tablet launched in China. The device received an 11-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2K and a refresh rate of 60 Hz, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 processor, a 13 MP main camera and an 8 MP front camera. The battery in the tablet is 8340 mAh, there is support for fast 33 W charging. The body thickness of the device is 7.1 mm, and the weight is 499 grams. The price of realme Pad X 5G 4/64 GB version is 1299 yuan, or approximately 12,300 rubles.

The company also showed the realme GT Neo smartphone3 Naruto Edition. According to the characteristics, this is the same realme GT Neo 3, presented in March, only differing in appearance and delivery set. The device has a 6.7-inch display with Full HD + resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. On board is a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chip, 12 GB of RAM and 256 GB of permanent memory, as well as a triple camera with a main 50 MP Sony IMX 766 sensor. The battery in the device is 4500 mAh with support for fast 150 W UltraDart charging.

The realme GT Neo 3 Naruto Edition smartphone should go on sale in China on May 31 for a price of 2,799 yuan, which is about 27,500 rubles.

Of the new products, the realme Pad X tablet is very interesting5G. Slim and light, with decent hardware for the price, it's the perfect bedside device for surfing the web and watching TV shows. The realme GT Neo 3 Naruto Edition smartphone looks attractive, but made more for fans of the Naruto series.

By the way, it is interesting that almost simultaneouslyrealme and Xiaomi will launch limited edition smartphones with anime characters on their market. Are these companies spying on each other, or is there a trend for such “limits” in China?

With regards to the latest realme new products, there is no information about the start of sales in Russia yet, but Chinese TCL told about its new products for our market this week:

New TCL devices in Russia - smartphones, tablet, computer and glasses

While many companies do not supply their products, TCL decided to take their share - a scattering of different devices for the Russian market, price / quality ratio.

Stores without goods

re:Store temporarily closed eight of its stores in Moscow and some stores in other Russian cities. According to the interlocutor of the Kommersant publication, the stores are closed for three months, during which time the company wants to rebuild logistics. Another source said that the company plans to establish a parallel import of equipment.

For mono-brand stores, now is the timedifficult times, and re:Store's attempts to somehow optimize their business look quite logical. The company closes its not-so-successful outlets in order to replenish the warehouses of more popular stores, however, this is still a temporary measure. Of course, the company can take up the parallel import of "apple" products, but what will the Apple representative office say about this after the resumption of product deliveries? And if re:Store nevertheless arranges deliveries on its own, there is still a question about warranty obligations to buyers, since the seller will have to repair the equipment received in such ways at his own expense.

Regarding parallel imports, we published a separate article:

About parallel import of smartphones, first deliveries and prices

We look at the first deliveries of smartphones using parallel imports, prices and how they will change, what is the guarantee.

But not only at monobrand stores nowdifficulties, the rest also experience difficulties with the availability of goods and try to somehow get out. For example, the MTS operator began selling used devices in branded retail this week. The idea is sound, but the prices, in my opinion, are not very interesting.

LEGO introduced an interesting Ferrari Daytona setSP3 from the Technic series. The model consists of 3,778 parts, it will have a mobile eight-speed gearbox and moving pistons of the V12 engine. Start of sales on June 1, and the price will be 400 US dollars.

A new trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder has been released online. In cinemas, we probably won’t see the novelty, but we all know where it can be found if something happens.

And finally, I recommend you our fresh material on new series:
