Miniaturization of the main modules installedin smartphones, is the main task of developers. At Samsung, engineers created a compact sensor with a resolution of 43.7MP and a pixel size of 0.7 microns. The sensor is called ISOCELL Slim GH1.
Technically new sensor surpasses everythingprevious similar modules designed for smartphones. The compact sensor is ideal for front cameras, which should occupy a minimum area on the front surface of the smartphone.
Currently, Samsung is working with a sensor whose pixel value is 0.8 microns. With the introduction of the new module, it will be possible to reduce the front camera while maintaining high quality selfie shooting.
Small pixel shooting is ideal for goodlighting for high detail photography. However, when shooting with low light, modern technologies that integrate several pixels into one can “stretch” such a photograph.
The company plans to start mass production of ISOCELL Slim GH1 at the end of the year, therefore, already in 2020 we expect smartphones with a front camera of 43.7 megapixels.
