Application of digital duplicates of the majoritydocuments were confirmed by the Minister of Digital Development, Communications and Mass Media of the Russian Federation Maksut Shadayev. The use of duplicate documents will be available in a special mobile application.
According to the official statement, digital copies of documentscan be used instead of traditional paper documents as early as next 2021. The technology of digital documents will be based on a methodology already tested on the experience of digital passes with a QR code, used during the first months of self-isolation caused by the COVID-19 epidemic.
Russian citizens will be able to use digitaldoubles for a driver's license, vehicle registration certificate, hunting ticket and partly for a passport. In the future, digital copies will become available for social cards and student ID cards. The use of digital twins will spread to 90% of cases requiring the presentation of documents.
