Russian banks will have to implement payment using QR codes on a mobile device as early as next year

Until the end of April 2023, Russian banks using Mir payment cards must implement a new

method of payment by Mir cards usingQR codes on a mobile device, about which the National Payment Card System (NSPK) notified partner banks. This means that by April next year, half of POS-terminals should be able to accept payments via QR codes, and by October 25 next year, 85% of all terminals should have such an opportunity.

NSPK provided an opportunity to integrate a newpayment systems starting from the end of October of the current year. Russian users actively used the possibilities of payment using smartphones, and the system being implemented will help them use familiar mobile technologies. At the same time, experts note that the mass introduction of new technology can create technical problems for banks due to the large scale of implementation.
