Russia has developed a flexible display that is brighter and more durable than OLED

Russian researchers from St. Petersburg, together with colleagues from Skoltech, have developed a flexible screen technology based on semiconductors.

A distinctive feature of the novelty is a service life of up to 20 years, as well as a brightness that is three times higher than that of OLED screens.

The team used nanowhiskers to create LEDs that stretch and bend, making them stronger than flexible screens made from organic materials.

Material developed by domestic scientists, remains stable for over 500 10% stretch cycles. It is expected to find applications in many industries, including color screens for mobile devices, wearable electronics and solar panels.
