Rolls-Royce announces partnershipwith the UK Space Agency to explore the possibility of using nuclear power for spaceflight. So far, Rolls-Royce has unveiled a nuclear reactor that could potentially power lunar and Martian bases or space travel beyond our planet.
Image of the latest development has been publishedon the brand's Twitter account. The company spokespersons described the mini-reactor as "a self-contained and energy-intensive solution designed for use in space exploration of the planet's surface or to power and propel a spacecraft."
Rolls-Royce also noted that the mini-reactordesigned to use a safe and reliable form of fuel, and the uranium particles are encased in numerous protective layers to withstand extreme conditions.
