    Design and appearance

From a technical point of view, Chuwi HiPad morelooks like a Nubia Red Magic phone than a tablet, its front is completely made of glass, and the back is aluminum. The display frames on the sides, as well as on the top and bottom are quite large, but for tablets this is typical.

Above is the front camera lens. The screen does not have a special coating, so it easily collects fingerprints. On the back are decorative elements in the form of red stripes, the Chuwi logo and the main camera.

HiPad is a pretty thin gadget, it is also light andit is comfortable to hold. Nevertheless, the build quality is imperfect - there are small gaps in both the front and rear. On the top is a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port and a Micro-SD card slot (up to 128 GB). On the right there is a power button, volume rocker and microphone. The buttons are made of metal and have a pleasant tactile pressing.

    Tablet display

What I really liked about Chuwi HiPad -this is a display. There is a 10.1-inch IPS-matrix with a resolution of 1920 × 1200 and an aspect ratio of 16: 10, which is great for watching movies.

The quality of the screen HiPad not inferior to more expensivemodels are particularly pleased with wide viewing angles. The maximum brightness is not sensational, but it is enough for readability indoors. In bright light, viewing content becomes more difficult. Automatic brightness control almost always works perfectly.

It also has a blue filter, whichallows you to comfortably use the tablet in the dark. In the settings, thanks to the technology MiraVision, you can change the display modes. I also recommend including “dynamic contrast”, which greatly improves the quality of the video being watched. Chuwi HiPad also received a 10-point digitizer with a fairly fast response time, the text is typed very accurately and quickly.

    Iron productivity

Chuwi HiPad is equipped with a 10-core processor HelioX27 MTK6797X clocked at up to 2.6 GHz and 3 GB of RAM LPDDR3, which has pretty good bandwidth. Helio X27 is similar to Snapdragon 810 and provides sufficient power in modern conditions.

Since the chip is manufactured using15-nm process technology, its energy efficiency is not as good as that of more modern chipsets. Helio X27 has three clusters (it is slightly overclocked here): 2 Cortex-A72 cores with a frequency of up to 2.6 GHz for batch operation, 4 Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of up to 2.0 GHz for medium and heavy modes, and 4 Cortex cores A53 with a frequency of up to 1.6 GHz for less complex tasks.

HiPad GPU is a Mali-T880 MP4 withfrequency of 875 MHz. In Asphalt 9, Modern Combat 5, MMX Racing, Asphalt Airborn 8, The Room Three, Hearthstone and other high-resolution games, I did not notice any jerks or slowdowns.

Good HiPad performance fromChuwi confirm the results of the test AnTuTu, in which the device scored 106,138 points. This is a very good result for a device costing $ 150 ($ 10,000).

    HiPad Cameras

Cameras in tablets rarely can pleasegood shots, and in this regard, the Chuwi HiPad wonders should not be expected. The device is equipped with a 5-megapixel main and 5-megapixel front camera, both of which offer very mediocre picture quality.

If in good light you can still getsomething bearable, then with a bad photo with HiPad you are unlikely to please. The same can be said about the video, despite the declared Full HD, video quality, to put it mildly, mediocre.

Nevertheless, HiPad cameras are enough for video chat in skype.

    Software

Chuwi HiPad runs on a clean version of the Android OS8.0 Oreo. To tell the truth, I don’t really like Android stock on smartphones, but for tablets this is more of a plus, as the usage scenarios are less diverse here.

Everything we have on HiPad is standardAndroid interface with applications from Google (Gmail, Play Store, Calendar, etc.). By the way, if you do not like the standard launcher, you can install another one from the Play Store. From the interesting note the presence of FM receiver, which allows you to record radio broadcasts.

In the settings of this Chuwi there is a proprietaryDuraSpeed utility, thanks to which it is possible to enable or disable applications in the background. This will allow the device to work faster and more efficiently.

The overall appearance and size of the font, if desired, you canchange in settings. The disadvantage of this interface is that there is no multitasking support, where you can split the screen and use two applications at the same time.

    Connectivity and connections

As for wireless communications, thenChuwi HiPad is equipped with a Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac module (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) and Bluetooth 4.1. I would like the device to support the connection to the mobile network, but here it is not. Alas, but there is also no GPS, although you should not forget that we are dealing with a budget device.

    Speaker sound

Mono speaker installed in HiPadquite loud, however, there is a lack of bass and a clear separation of frequencies - the low sound poor and the high sound is a bit overloaded. To listen to music or watch movies, I recommend using headphones through a 3.5 mm jack.

    Autonomy Chuwi HiPad

Budget Chuwi HiPad is equipped with a rather big7000 mAh battery, which does not provide the longest battery life. In the test Geekbench, with the screen on, the tablet worked for a little over 6 hours, which is far from the best indicator.

Fortunately, HiPad is equipped with a USB Type-C port, the gadget needs about 60 minutes to charge the battery up to 50%, and about 2.5 hours to fully charge.

    Total

The first thing that catches your eye is design.Chuwi HiPad, reminiscent of a gaming phone Nubia Red Magic, at least on the back side. The performance of this tablet is quite enough for most common applications and modern games.

Thanks to a resolution of 1920 × 1200 and a ratiosides 16:10, the device is great for watching movies, especially when paired with good headphones. The colors and contrast of the display are good, however, the content in the sun is poorly viewed, so HiPad is more suitable for indoor use.

32 GB of internal memory will be enough formost users, in any case, it can be increased with a memory card. In general, for a relatively low price Chuwi offers a good device, with decent performance and performance.
