Qualcomm introduced a processor for gaming smartphones (3 photos)


Last year, Qualcomm decided to enrich itsthe Snapdragon 700 series processor portfolio. Until now, the only representative was the Snapdragon 710, but now it is joined by the Snapdragon 712. It offers noticeably better performance than its predecessor, which should be appreciated by mobile gaming enthusiasts.

Snapdragon 712, like Snapdragon 710,designed to support the mid-range smartphone segment. The new unit is also manufactured using 10 nm process technology, it consists of eight cores Kryo 360, Adreno 616 graphics core, Qualcomm Spectra 250 image processor and Hexagon 685 DSP. The latter element is used to process artificial intelligence tasks so as not to overload the processor cores. The mobile platform Snapdragon 712 is also equipped with a Snapdragon X15 LTE modem with support for 3CA, 4 × 4 MIMO and LAA, which provides data download at speeds up to 800 Mbps and return up to 150 Mbps.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 also has support.Qualcomm Quick Charge 4+ fast charging technology, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz, NFC, GPS, QZSS, GLONASS, SBAS, Beidou, Galileo and USB 3.1 and USB-C. The processor can handle displays with a resolution of QHD + and an aspect ratio of 21: 9 (up to 3360 × 1440 pixels), displaying content using HDR10 technology. With support for cameras, everything remains, as in Snapdragon 710, the platform will be able to work with ordinary systems with a resolution of up to 32 megapixels and dual ones up to 20 megapixels. Video in 4K format will be recorded only at 30 frames per second.


Qualcomm claims that Snapdragon 712 offers10% more performance than the Snapdragon 710, and its cores can work with a clock frequency of 2.3 GHz. When playing on a smartphone, the processes will be processed more efficiently, and the graphics play faster with different types of gameplay.

Qualcomm does not report when the first Snapdragon 712 smartphones will hit the market.
