Presents new video standards for DisplayPort 2.0

Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA ®)announced the release of version 2.0 of the audio standard Video DisplayPort (DP). DP 2.0 is the first major upgrade of the DisplayPort standard since March 2016 and provides an increase in data throughput by 3 times compared with the previous version of DisplayPort (DP 1.4a).

Provides for the possibility of satisfactionhigher update frequencies that may appear in the future. This applies to resolutions higher than 8K, higher refresh rates, and dynamic range (HDR) support via a cable connection.

The benefits of DP 2.0 have both a DP own connector and a USB Type-C connector, which transfers audio and video DP through an alternative DisplayPort mode. The highest throughput of the new interface is 77.37 Gbps, which is 3 times higher than DisplayPort 1.4a. In addition to the resolution of 8K at 60 Hz with HDR support, the DisplayPort 2.0 interface can use the following configurations:

• One 16K display (15360 × 8460), 60 Hz, 30 bit / 4: 4: 4 color depth (Display Stream Compression)
• One 10K display (10240 × 4320), 60 Hz, color depth 24 bit / 4: 4: 4 (uncompressed)
• Two 8K (7680 × 4320) displays, 120 Hz, color depth 30 bits / 4: 4: 4, HDR (Display Stream Compression)
• Two 4K displays (3840 × 2160), 144 Hz, color depth 24 bit / 4: 4: 4 (uncompressed)
• Three 10K displays (10240 × 4320), 60 Hz, color depth 30 bits / 4: 4: 4, HDR (Display Stream Compression)
• Three 4K display (3840 × 2160), 90 Hz, color depth 30 bits / 4: 4: 4, HDR (uncompressed)

In addition, a support system of three is available.monitors with a resolution of 1440p. The new standard will support a cable solution with USB Type-C and DisplayPort connectors. The first commercial products using the DisplayPort 2.0 standard will be sold before the end of 2020.
