The first 64 megapixel sensor for mobileSamsung ISOCELL GW1 became a camera; recently, Sony IMX686 also appeared with Sony. Today it is announced that the duo has turned into a trio: OmniVision introduced its version of the 64-megapixel camera.
The OmniVision OV64C sensor has exactly the samephysical size, as its competitors - 1 / 1.7 ”. Accordingly, each individual pixel accounts for 0.8 μm. It also implements the ability to consider clusters of four neighboring pixels as one 1.6 microns in size - this is how 16-megapixel photos are obtained. A new 2 × 2 ML PDAF autofocus technology has been promised - faster than the usual PDAF, and showing particularly good performance in low light conditions.
OmniVision OV64C supports 8K video shooting at 30fps, 4K at 60fps and 4K at 30fps, but with EIS stabilization.
