The station’s job is to interfere withOptical observation and aiming systems in the dark and melee weapons. "Filin" works with different modules of the brightness of light radiation, which leads to a temporary loss of vision from opponents. During the preliminary experiments, the experimental subjects could not see the target at a distance of up to 2000 meters, a quarter noted the appearance of hallucinations in the form of a light spot, and almost half began to get lost in space, experiencing headaches and nausea.

"Filin" at a distance of 5 km disablesnight vision devices, does not allow to target anti-tank missiles and suppresses the work of laser distance meters. A station for visual and optical interference was developed by the St. Petersburg Experimental Plant Integral of the state concern Vega. For export is now available only a similar system of non-lethal weapons called 5P42E "Grach" with simplified characteristics.
