Muscovites - owners of electric vehicles, are exempt from taxes


The Russian regional authorities decidedstimulating the acquisition of environmentally friendly electric vehicles. So far, however, such measures have been taken only in the capital. The mayor of Moscow has signed a bill amending certain capital laws regarding taxation. One of the points of the future local law and reports on the exemption from transport tax for motorists who own an electric car.

Thus, the Moscow authorities are trying to inducecitizens to purchase environmentally friendly cars, which will provide, in the foreseeable future, a significant improvement in the situation with gas in Moscow streets. The tax exemption will last until December 31, 2024.

Currently, the electric vehicle sector is stillextremely small in Russia and makes up only 0.01% of the total fleet. Among the 4.6 thousand electric vehicles in the first place among the Russians is Nissan Leaf, which acquired 3.7 thousand motorists. The Tesla Model S with 221 cars is only in third place, while the second most popular car was the Mitsubishi i-MiEV (308 cars). Tesla Model X has the fourth place (125 units), and the fifth in the Russian LADA Ellada electric car (96 units).
