MediaTek introduced a new platform for the Internet of Things

Chipmaker MediaTek announced a new product, the i700, an AI platform for IoT devices.

The chip is quite powerful and can be used ina wide range of solutions for creating the “Internet of Things”. It consists of eight processor cores - two ARM Cortex-A75 2.2 GHz plus six ARM Cortex-A55 2.0 GHz, GPU IMG PowerVR GM 9446 and ISP IMG 9XM-HP8.

Implemented support for 32 megapixel singlecamera or duet 24 + 16 MP, an intelligent face recognition function. Wi-Fi 2 × 2 802.11ac, Bluetooth LE 5.0, LTE Cat.12 is supported.

The company claims that the new chipset is capableperform calculations related to artificial intelligence tasks five times faster than its predecessor - i500. This is useful for a variety of recognition systems.

The i700 platform will be released to the global market in 2020.
