MediaTek announced the mobile chip Helio P65 (2 photos)

New Helio P65 processor developedby MediaTek, will significantly increase the power of mobile gadgets. The newcomer has 8 cores, of which 2 are Cortex-A75 cores with up to 2.0 GHz frequency and 6 Cortex-A55 cores with up to 1.5 GHz frequency. The use of the Cortex-A75 is a significant improvement over the previously used Cortex-A73 cores in the Helio P60 / P70.

Evaluation of the performance of new chipsetscompared with the previous series is ambiguous. On the one hand, the old processors had 4 high-performance cores, and the Helio P65 has only 2 high-performance cores. However, on the other hand, the Helio P65 uses an ARM Mali-G52 graphics processor with a frequency of 820 MHz, similar to that used in the Kirin 810. It supports displays of formats up to 2520x1080 pixels and hardware decoding of 2K video stream at 30 fps using H.265 (HEVC) and VP9. In addition, the chipset is compatible with LPDDR3 and LPDDR4x RAM up to 8 GB and flash drives of the eMMC 5.1 standard.

MediaTek Helio P65 is able to support worktwo 16-megapixel cameras or one 48 megapixel. From the functionality available analysis of depth of field when shooting with the bokeh effect and electronic frame stabilization (EIS). The processor has face recognition technology, jelly effect compensation for video recording and pump Express fast charging. Stated that the processing of images and clips is carried out 30% faster than its predecessors.

Other features include support forsatellite navigation systems GPS, GLONASS, Beidou and Galileo, fourth-generation mobile communications Dual 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth 5.0 wireless connectivity and Wi-Fi 802.11a / b / g / n / ac, FM radio.

Using MediaTek Helio P65 in smartphonesthe middle tier imposes restrictions on some technologies. The processor does not support Wi-Fi 6, UFS storage, and cannot record 4K video. The developers are announcing a twofold increase in processor performance compared to the base MediaTek chips. However, during the presentation it was not said whether the new chips will have an artificial intelligence processor (APU) installed. The first gadgets with a MediaTek Helio P65 processor should be announced in the third quarter of this year.
