  • Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3 - all-in-one entrya level that looks more expensive than it really is. The curved stand looks stylish and reliably supports the 23.8 "screen, and the display itself is much larger than the usual 21.5" counterparts in this price segment.

However, after some time of usethe flaws of the IdeaCentre AIO 3 become apparent. The screen brightness is low, the webcam quality is depressing, there is little internal storage, and there are no USB-C connectors at all. So it's better to add and take the HP Pavilion 24 All-in-One. If you don't really care about Windows, you can also consider the cheaper HP Chromebase All-in-One 22 on Chrome OS.

    Monoblock configuration

The test version of the Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3 ran on an AMD Ryzen 3 4300U processor, with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD.

Ryzen 3 is an entry-level mobile processordesigned for laptops. Although it is often found in budget monoblocs, where there is no room for a powerful cooling system. There is also a more expensive build of the IdeaCentre AIO 3 with a Ryzen 5 processor and 512GB SSD. Both versions have a 23.8-inch Full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) non-touch display.

    Design and construction

For a budget monoblock Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3 looks very attractive - the monitor is mounted on a stylish curved stand.

It serves as a reliable support for the display, and whendevice off - serves as a convenient place for the keyboard. The bottom display bezel is 11.43 cm above the table top. You cannot adjust the height or angle of rotation - only the tilt.

All elements of the monoblock are black, like a keyboard and a mouse, included in the kit. Because of this, the IdeaCentre AIO 3 is more like an office computer than a home system for gaming and content viewing.

    Display and sound

The 23.8-inch Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3 display has only Full HD resolution. Therefore, the screen is only suitable for watching videos in 1080p and surfing the web.

Work with text all day or practiceediting is inconvenient - text and images are blurred at the edges. The panel's maximum brightness is only 250 nits, although this is a normal figure for budget all-in-ones and laptops. It is better to set the brightness at the highest value, then the image will have enough contrast for comfortable work.

The sRGB color space is 97%, Adobe RGB 75% and DCI-P3 78%. Not outstanding results, but not the worst.

IdeaCentre AIO 3 has two speakerspower of 3W, the sound of which is similar to that of most laptops. The treble and midrange blend into each other, while the bass is almost nonexistent. In this regard, the Lenovo candy bar is clearly worse than the HP Chromebase All-in-One 22 with 5W speakers.

    Connectors and ports

Although the Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3 monoblock looks modern, in terms of connectors it is inferior to most competitors.

There's not even a USB-C port here, so forconnecting many devices, you will have to use an adapter. Behind the display next to the power button is the DVD-RW optical drive. However, it is unlikely to be of much use unless you have old photo or video discs left over.

Instead of a DVD drive, the manufacturer had better setat least one USB-C. The rest of the connectors are located on the back of the case: two USB 2.0, one USB 3.1, HDMI output and Ethernet port. On the left you will find another USB 3.1, SD, SDHC and SDXC card reader, as well as a headphone / microphone combo jack.

Wireless standards are also of the pastgeneration - Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) instead of Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.0. The IdeaCentre AIO 3 comes with a wired keyboard and mouse from Lenovo. Their quality is good, but a tangle of wires forms on the table, which slightly spoils the overall impression of the stylish design of the candy bar.

    Performance Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3

The hardware of the IdeaCentre AIO 3 is not the most powerful - the AMD Ryzen 3 mobile processor is clearly not suitable for "heavy" tasks.

In the GeekBench 5.4 benchmark.1 Pro monoblock IdeaCentre AIO 3 in multi-core mode gains 3231 points. Dell Inspiron Desktop on Intel Core i3 scores 3506 points, while Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 13 on Core i5 scores 5102.

In graphics tests Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3 withthe integrated AMD Radeon graphics card is also not impressive - GFXBench 5.0 (Car Chase) gives the Lenovo monoblock 40 fps. The Samsung Galaxy Book Pro 13 has 100 fps, while the 24-inch Apple iMac has 178 fps. The model is clearly not suitable for games.

    Total

Lenovo IdeaCentre AIO 3 is an all-in-one computerone entry-level for those looking for the maximum display size at the lowest cost. You will no longer find 23.8-inch screens in this price segment, although this is the only advantage of the candy bar. Also, Full HD resolution would have had better quality on a 21.5-inch screen.

    Should I buy

AMD Ryzen 3 processor is too weak for manytasks, and the lack of USB-C connectors defies explanation. Better to pay a little more and buy the HP Pavilion 24 All-in-One. And if you're willing to use a non-Windows computer, the HP Chromebase All-in-One 22 on Chrome OS is ideal.
