In early summer 2020, KFC releaseda commercial featuring the KFConsole game console as a chicken bucket with a built-in grill. The company has promised to bring the console to the market by mid-December. Then many thought that KFC was simply involved in a general campaign to discuss the future release of the leaders of the gaming world, and in particular the PlayStation 5 from Sony and Xbox Series X from Microsoft. However, the manufacturers of appetizing chicken wings were not joking and fulfilled their promises by presenting a real model of KFConsole that can not only bring the user into the gaming computer world, but also quickly serve warm, grilled food.
KFConsole was developed in partnership withby the Taiwanese computer manufacturer Cooler Master. The base for the game console is an Intel NUC laptop, built into a case in the form factor of the famous chicken wing bucket. However, the developers did not stop there - the set-top box has a built-in working grill for heating food.
It is noteworthy that the first message about the newConsole in the catchy KFC form factor was posted on Twitter, where it has collected about 11 million views. Now the computer "equipped with a chicken camera" becomes a real device. KFConsole is essentially an Intel NUC 9 Extreme Element with a modified Cooler Master MasterCase NC100 as well as an Asus RTX graphics card and a 1TB Seagate NVMe SSD. The Intel NUC Compute Unit is available in i5, i7 and i9 variants.
The chicken chamber is also not a props, butcan actually heat food and is part of the computer's cooling system. According to the developers, "the optimum temperature of the console equipment is provided by the removal of heat for cooking hot food."
However, as of today, there is no official announcement about the date of the start of sales and the price of the new two-component product from KFC.
