Chinese Engineers from Kandao Tech Companyannounced a technological breakthrough in the virtual reality industry with the launch of the world's first 3D 360-degree camera capable of capturing video in 12K resolution. The new Kandao Obsidian Pro, presented last week in Beijing, is equipped with 8 APS-C lenses, is capable of 3D panoramic shooting and is intended for VR content creators.
Application of special algorithms developedspecialists of the company Kandao Tech, allows you to create panoramic 3D video in 12K resolution at a frame rate of 60 fps. The camera has a 14-stop dynamic range and ISO up to 12,800 for high-contrast shooting even in low light conditions.
To save the footage, useInternal SSDs with 4, 8 or 16 TB. Recording speed when shooting 12-bit RAW video is up to 22,160 Mbps. Sixteen 4mm heat pipes and a 120mm fan are used to dissipate excess heat generated during 12K shooting.
Each Kandao Obsidian Pro lens receives195-degree view with 300% field coverage. The camera has an electronically controlled aperture (f / 2.8-f / 16) and zoom lenses.
Kandao Obsidian Pro is operated fromusing a mobile application through which the exposure is set, the white balance is set, the focusing distance is set and the shooting mode is selected.
Wireless communication is carried out usingbuilt-in modules Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax) and Bluetooth 5. There is a 10 Gigabit Ethernet connector with a performance of 10 Gbps. The audio system is equipped with eight directional microphones. There is a 3.5mm jack and USB Type-C, allowing you to connect a variety of audio devices.
The sale of the Kandao Obsidian Pro opens on May 20.When buying a base camera without drives, the camera will cost $ 24,350, including 4 SSD drives; 8 and 16 TB increases the price to $ 26,800, $ 28,800 and 35,000, respectively.
