Introduced a new standard of power supplies developed by Intel (2 photos)

A quarter of a century after commissioningATX standard for power supplies, computer hardware and technology have advanced significantly. Therefore, one of the most ambitious changes in the design of power supplies, starting in 1995, will be the appearance of the new Intel ATX12VO standard this year.

According to the official statement of the developers fromIntel's new standard with the full name Advanced Technology eXtended 12-Volt Only will be launched before the end of 2020. In the new standard, instead of the traditional 24-pin connector, a 10-pin one will be used with only 12 volt power lines.

Updated power supplies will not usevoltage of 3.3 V and 5 V., and step-down elements will be built into the motherboard, where the SATA power connector will also be located next to the interface ports.

As a result of the implementation of the new standard there will beeliminated additional power connectors for the processor and simplified the design of the power supply, by eliminating the need to install converters to lower the voltage for lines 5 V and 3.3 V. / As a result, the developers declare a reduction in the total price of the product.
