Intel announced a flexible 17-inch tablet and Xe graphics card (2 photos + video)

CES 2020 events bring morenews from leading manufacturers of high-tech sector of the economy. Intel developers presented the fruits of their two-year effort to create the Xe GPU graphics chip. During the presentation, not only the integrated capabilities of the video card with the promising series of Intel Tiger Lake processors were shown, but also the real discrete graphics processor DG1 was presented, which demonstrated its capabilities on the Destiny 2 game application.

Intel's initial plans include integrationXe's graphics platform into Tiger Lake branded processors, which will appear later this year. As a demonstration, a laptop running on the Tiger Lake processor was presented, which showed the gameplay of a fairly old shooter Warframe. At the same time, the developers did not comment on the technical capabilities of the processor, but stated that 3D games would run in HD mode without any problems.

As part of CES 2020, Intel engineers alsointroduced the 17-inch folding OLED tablet, codenamed Horseshoe Bend, which also demonstrated the capabilities of Tiger Lake chips with integrated Xe GPU graphics. Avoiding the presentation of the detailed technical characteristics of the platform, the developers assured that the new mobile processors will receive a "two-digit performance increase."

It is also announced that Tiger Lake will receiveImproved AI capabilities, as well as support for Thunderbolt 4, which will be four times faster than USB 3.0. For Intel, Tiger Lak processors will be the first chips to use 10 nm + process technology. At the same time, the integrated Xe graphics will show results comparable to some discrete video processors.
