The Russian company Promobot has developed a newtour guide robot. Thanks to a wide linguistic base, the robot knows literally everything about the place in which it works - and never forgets it. It is assumed that tour guide robots will be able to attract new visitors to the institution and also facilitate the work of employees.
A robot tour guide is also an employeemuseum, and an exhibit. The guide will be able to perform the following tasks: show promotional materials on his screen, communicate and answer guests' questions, tell groups about the museum's exhibits, and freely maneuver between installations.
The invention has broad technicalsolutions - a touch LCD display on which materials will be shown, a camera and a microphone to identify people and voices of visitors. In addition, an obstacle sensor system is built into the device, which guides the mechanized employee around the territory and protects him from unforeseen collisions with objects.
“It is already becoming a trend that museumsbegin to actively integrate innovative technologies into their activities! Now young people may have an additional incentive to visit museums and develop, because the robot guide makes the event more interesting. The robot will be in an interactive, easy way, telling about the history and various expositions. Children and teenagers love everything high-tech, they can easily understand it, other educational institutions need to take note of this fact, ”comments Oleg Kivokurtsev, Promobot Development Director.
Especially for the project, the company's engineersTogether with representatives of museums, we developed a system for uploading a map of the institution's expositions. This map will be used in creating algorithms for the robot, improve its movement and navigation through the halls.
To date, Promobot has already startedcooperation with museums and soon we will see robotic guides in such museums as "Russia is my history" in Perm and the Naryn-Kala Citadel complex in Dagestan.
The Promobot company was founded in 2015 in Perm.Since the same year he has been a resident of Skolkovo. Today Promobot is the largest manufacturer of autonomous service robots in Europe.
