The next decade, Russia will work oncreation of its own system that will provide citizens with unlimited access to cheap satellite Internet throughout the country and will eliminate the digital divide.
New plans developed by the government and steelare known from the document "National Innovation System". Russian satellite Internet will become part of the "Strategy for the socio-economic development of the Russian Federation until 2030". The main goal of the project is to overcome the digital divide.
Data transmission will be carried out by satellitegrouping. The first such project was already presented last year, when the Ministry of Digital Science planned to launch four satellites into elliptical orbit by 2024. Then the cost of the program was 40 billion rubles.
A fundamentally new satellite Internet program will require investments of 151 billion rubles by 2030, and satellites will be located in both low and elliptical orbits.
Russian satellite Internet can onlyten years later, compete with Elon Musk's Starlink project, the implementation of which has allowed over 1600 satellites to be put into orbit from February 2018 to the present day. At the same time, the number of applications for connection to test Internet broadcasting exceeded 500 thousand. The total cost of the Musk program is estimated at $ 10 billion.
