Hyundai will provide cars with an active noise reduction system

Increase comfort for the driver and passengers duringa long stay in the car will help not only comfortable seats and climate control, but also an effective system of protection from extraneous noise coming from a running engine or other cars.

Hyundai developers have taken the path of creating an active noise reduction system, which almost completely protects the interior from outside noise.

Currently in some companiesFor automobile manufacturers, an active noise reduction system is already used, based on the analysis of sounds and the emission of sound waves by the car speakers in the opposite phase, which leads to mutual damping of sound. The disadvantage of existing systems is their selectivity and the ability to suppress only standard sound frequencies known in advance by the manufacturer.

Hyundai technology calledRoad Noise Active Noise Control (RANC) has been developed for six years. The principle of operation of the system is based on the use of a large number of sensors and a large computing power, which together allows you to analyze and suppress noise in real time. At the same time, sounds of any spectrum are suppressed by generating in real time the necessary waves in antiphase.

So, for example, the use of an acceleration sensor allows you to detect the sound from the vibration created by the movement of the car. Analysis and generation of the opposite sound wave takes only 0.002 seconds.

One of the features of the RANC system isthe possibility of individual noise reduction for the driver or passengers, which reduces noise by 3 dB. Another advantage of the use of technology may be the ability to reduce the total mass of the car by reducing soundproof gaskets, reducing the thickness of glass and other structural elements. As a result, the car will consume less fuel.

The first RANC technology is used in cars of the Genesis sub-brand, and later in Hyundai and Kia cars.
