Huawei announced a 5G chipset and a 5G router (3 photos)

During the event in Beijing, Huaweiannounced the Balong 5000 chip supporting fifth-generation communication technology (5G). Technically, the chip acts as a direct competitor to the Qualcomm Snapdragon X50, with which comparisons were made during the presentation.

The results look extremely high.compared to the Qualcomm chip. The Balong 5000 speed can reach 4.6 Gbps, while the Snapdragon X50 has a speed of 2.3 Gbps. In addition, Huawei's solution simultaneously supports 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G on the same modem, without any size problems associated with integration into mobile devices.

Also, the novelty has support for mmWave with descending6.5 Gb / s link and 3.5 Gb / s uplink. This will allow to cover the 5G spectrum in a more uniform way, thanks to the possibility of separating the loading and unloading frequencies.

Huawei also noted that this is the first in the world.multi-mode chipset supporting both autonomous (SA) and non-autonomous (NSA) network architectures simultaneously. In the first case, the Balong 5000 will use an independent architecture, in the second case it will use the inherited 4G LTE networks. Simply put, a modem can flexibly meet the various needs of users and especially operators.

Balong 5000 can actually interact withV2X protocol, which provides data exchange in the self-driving sector. Given that this is a modem, not a system on a chip, it is obvious that the intention of the Chinese company is to use it not only in smartphones.

It is not surprising that the first solution shown withintegrated Balong 5000, is an access point called 5G CPE Pro with support for 5G network and Wi-Fi standard 6. The 5G era officially entered into life. The first smartphone with the support of fifth-generation networks will debut in June.
