How does music affect the state of our body?

Watch yourself while listeningfavorite music - your heart will probably start to beat more often, goosebumps will go on your skin, and your palms will slightly sweat. Agree, it is amazing how such an abstract phenomenon as music can provoke so many changes in the human body. Researchers from California, apparently, have long been interested in studying this phenomenon, so they decided to conduct a rather interesting experiment. They set themselves the goal of finding out which features of music have the greatest impact on the human body and which areas of our body are affected by the rhythm and mood of musical compositions.

Music can affect our mood and even physical condition.

For the experiment they neededgroup of 40 volunteers. They let them listen to 3 music tracks lasting from 2 to 8 minutes. For the purity of the study, the songs were not familiar to the participants - if they included popular music, people could tie them to events from their lives in which they experienced any emotions. For example, if a song sounded in a dental clinic during tooth extraction, a person would immediately perceive it with a negative. And so, when the tracks sounded for the first time, volunteers could answer with a pure soul what emotions they evoke from them. While listening to music, their brain was scanned through a magnetic resonance imaging apparatus.

What happens to the body while listening to music?

In parallel, researchers conducted anotheran experiment in which 60 volunteers participated. While they were listening to music, scientists monitored their heart rate and sweat gland activity. In addition, people were asked to evaluate their mood on a ten-point scale after listening to a song.

By the way, did you know that music can reduce your pain?

The collected data was submitted for processing.artificial intelligence. It turned out that the human body is particularly affected by the dynamics, timbre, rhythm and number of instruments in the music being played. For example, the human brain reacted sharply to the frequency and strength of the shock parts - listen to the song “Bad Romance” by Lady Gaga and know that the transverse temporal gyrus of your brain began to show high activity.

It was also found that the most vivid emotionsdynamic songs cause the person, where within three minutes the rhythm and timbre of the composition manages to change. That is, when a person listens to monotonous black metal like the song “All shall fall” by the Norwegian group Immortal, he does not experience sharp emotional outbursts. And while listening to the legendary Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, a person can experience a lot more emotions.

Another discovery was that onThe emotional response of a person is also affected by the number of instruments in the composition. The most negative effect on a person’s mood is provided by music in the G-minor key, with the most sad note in this key turned out to be a sharp sharp (F #). If in the musical composition there is a moment with the addition of a new instrument and an increase in the sound volume, the person most often misted his hands.
