Haval Dargo test. Brutal Chinese. Part 2

Since the release of the first part of the material, the situation on the market has changed slightly, and the price of Haval Dargo in all

trim levels fell by 200,000 rubles. That is, now the initial version costs 2,999,000 rubles against 3,199,000 rubles earlier, and the top version is estimated at 3,549,000 rubles instead of the previous 3,749,000 rubles. The adjustment in the cost of the car, in general, is not the biggest, but pleasant for the end buyer.

I also managed literally a day, but stilltest Haval Dargo in winter. The model was equipped with Nokian Hakkapeliitta studded tires, with which it did not become too noisy in the cabin, maybe a little more extraneous sounds penetrate from the road through the arches, but not critical. On snow-covered roads, the crossover showed itself well, even without changing the mode to “Snow”, the Dargo walks confidently through the snowy porridge, preventing the driver from doubting himself and making no mistakes. The only disappointment is the rear wiper, which cleans only a small area of the rear window, thereby making it difficult to see through the interior mirror.

If in the first part of the material we talked about the car itself, then here, in the second part, we will talk about its electronic filling using the example of the top-end Tech Plus configuration.

Haval Dargo test. Brutal Chinese. Part 1.

The Haval Dargo crossover is one of the few and probably the most interesting novelty of this year on the Russian market.

The first thing I note is the presence in the crossovera large 12.3-inch (in the initial configuration it is 10.25 inches) widescreen IPS touch display, which is the main control system in the car. Almost all options are tied to it. The screen is bright and contrasting with a good response and a good resolution, the manufacturer does not provide data, but apparently it is FHD. The display is not one iota turned towards the driver, but it is installed on its own pedestal, thanks to which there is no need to reach for the screen, but simply raise your hand to interact with it.

Old smartphones you can still buy

Remember the times when, in addition to Android and iOS, there wereother operating systems for smartphones? For better or worse, they offered an alternative. And you can still choose it, having received a new device in a box ...

The system interface completely copies that inmodern smartphones. We have a main menu on two screens with large cards of the main options, plus there is a general menu with section icons that can be swapped, similar to mobile devices. If you swipe down from the top edge of the display, we will bring up a curtain, which already has options for quickly calling up some functions, plus you can add some positions yourself, as well as swap all of them. On the top line, service information is constantly displayed, on the left side - on the operation of the climate system, and on the right - on the phone connected to it. Also on the left side of the screen (so that the driver does not reach out) we have section icons. Here the logic is not clear everywhere, for example, there is no radio in the “Music” section, for some reason it is in the applications section, and all settings related to chairs are dumped into the general settings section, but, in general, this is the only oddity in the interface.

The media system offers us a choice of two themesdesign, and they change the interface not only of the system, but also of the dashboard. The first option is a little clumsy and childish, for my taste, but the second one is very beautifully drawn, it has a picture of the planet added (static on the screen of the media system in standby mode, but an animated image is added on the dashboard on a permanent basis), an absolutely unnecessary element, but visually attractive and reminiscent of that in Xiaomi smartphones. The speed of the system is not to say that it is very high, there are slight slowdowns, but insignificant. The amount of internal memory here is 64 GB, of which about 16 GB is occupied by the system, and the rest is available to the user to download media files, such as video or music.

The media system is tied to the control of a two-zoneclimate control, which is not very convenient, especially if you want to do something on the go. But taking into account the fact that the climate system works very well in automatic mode and does not require adjustments in the process, such a decision can be forgiven to the manufacturer.

Recently, we have become accustomed to access toclimate from touch screens, although this is impractical, but many now have this. But the developers of Haval Dargo went further and removed all possible options from the media system, thereby saving on physical elements. So, through the screen we control the heating and ventilation of the front seats, and the strangest thing is the heating of the rear seats, so passengers will always contact the driver or front passenger on this issue. Here we have the activation of the heated steering wheel, the settings for the lumbar support for the driver's seat, the activation and selection of massage for it, the position memory for three drivers and all the other options that you could imagine.

Yes, most of the functions can be moved to the blindfor quick access and arrange the elements so as to reach them right away, but it's still inconvenient, especially on the go, since the icons are small, you still need to manage to get into them, and you need to pull out the curtain before that. To heat the same front seats is a little easier, on the second screen there is a large card that allows you to carry out these actions, but, whatever one may say, physical buttons would be much better. And yes, in fairness, it’s worth saying that you can bring the same steering wheel heating to the multifunction button on the steering wheel (there is a short list of options that you can hang on it) and access it with one click.

On 10.The 25-inch digital instrument panel, also IPS, which has a high-quality image and practically does not fade in the sun, you can interact with the data using the large physical keys on the steering wheel to navigate. By pressing the button with the “house”, you can call up a menu that contains the following sections: on-board computer, media data (lists of radio stations and playlists), where the same music from any player is displayed with a cover, navigation, service information and settings related to by car. The developer was a little too clever with the controls: to call up the menu, you need to press the button with the “house” not once, but twice, and to fix some selected information on the screen, you definitely need to press the “OK” button on the steering wheel, otherwise through for some time it will be reset to the on-board computer data.

You probably noted the presence in the carnavigation section, but there is no own navigation system here, but there is a feature that I have not seen before. So, when you connect an Android or iOS smartphone to Dargo (both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are supported, however, only by wire) and start navigation on devices, tips from it will be displayed on the dashboard and the car’s projection screen. The only thing is that on Android, the route data was displayed only from Yandex.Navigator, and in the case of iOS, only from Apple maps. Yes, only basic hints are displayed, about movement and distance to the next maneuver, but this, in general, is enough. It's just very cool that this is generally implemented and integrated into the car system - the main map on the central display, voice prompts through the speakers and such visual information in front of your eyes on the dashboard and projection. In fact, a full-fledged navigation system becomes available to us, but not as a separate module, for which automakers often ask for some inadequate money, but through the standard Android Auto and Apple CarPlay interfaces.

When you connect your phone to the system via Bluetooth, unfortunately, we interact with data only from the main screen of the media system, but at least incoming calls brought out the dashboard and projection. In general, it is strange that the user was not given the opportunity to work with call lists directly on the dashboard, especially considering that there we can interact with the same playlists. The device is connected via Bluetooth quickly, and the import of contacts is correct. The speakerphone also works flawlessly.

Huawei MateBook 16S review

Great working tool: big screen with high resolution, capacious battery, powerful processor…

As for the projection display, here it iscolor, good quality and with a choice of three themes (normal, sports and snow, the latter changes the font to blue so that you see the data on a white background). All information is readable well, and in addition to the digital speedometer, we have access to data on limit signs, cruise control information, as well as route hints (if smartphone navigation is activated).

Now let's move on to the driver assistants, the listwhich for the maximum configuration Haval Dargo is very extensive. So, we have a system for reading the main traffic signs, which reads them using a camera behind the saloon mirror and broadcasts their images in graphical form on the instrument panel and projection. The operation of this system is not satisfactory, but it must be taken into account that the camera may sometimes not see the sign, for example, if it is turned slightly to the side or some object blocks the view, so you should not rely on it completely.

The traffic sign reading system here is tied toadaptive cruise control, which in Dargo moved to a separate steering column switch on the left side, as implemented in Audi cars. I know that not everyone likes this type of cruise control control, but as for me, you just need to get used to it and learn all the switch positions in the parking lot in advance. The adaptive cruise in the crossover works well. According to the manufacturer, it uses 14 sensors and 5 cameras installed in the car. When changing the same restriction signs, the system prompts the driver to increase or decrease the speed; it does not change the speed limit on its own. Also, a car with cruise enabled on a permanent basis displays information about objects around in a graphical mode on the dashboard and projections in the manner of Tesla. The gradation of objects at Dargo occurs in size, and it displays three types: motorcycles, cars and trucks. It’s a pity they didn’t add data from the blind spot tracking system, as in Hyundai / Kia, which would fit perfectly on the proposed picture, the latter would become more informative. But for some reason this was not implemented, so the warning is displayed only on mirrors and is not visible on the screens. Yes, as with most cars, the adaptive-cruise control allows us to take our hands off the wheel for 10 seconds, after which it will ask you to continue steering.

There are no complaints about the speed to the Dargo cruise control, the car sees objects in advance, analyzes their speed and prudently starts to slow down. After the car in front has left your lane or accelerated, the crossover also evenly and without delay begins to accelerate to the set values. In traffic jams, the situation is worse, often the car releases the vehicle in front too much after stopping or slowing down, which, accordingly, leads to the fact that other traffic participants begin to climb in front of you. But, in general, here the cruise helps out and allows you to use it in sluggish traffic jams.

What else can an assistant do?It can automatically avoid obstacles, but it does so only within the lane. Accordingly, guiding and holding in the lane in the crossover is also present. The assistant works correctly, sees even poorly readable markings, and the effort on the steering wheel gives optimal strength. Also, the car is able to recognize pedestrians and cyclists, if I'm not mistaken, this assistant worked for me only once when driving in the yard and informed me about the presence of an object with a buzzer and a graphic sign. Of course, Dargo also has an emergency braking system, but, fortunately, I did not have a chance to test it in operation, let's hope that it works properly.

Available in Haval Dargo and fully autonomousan automatic parking system that can park the car on its own, and the driver only needs to monitor the situation and, if necessary, manipulate the brake pedal. The crossover can park both in parallel and in your pocket, the only thing you need to look at the screen is what option the electronics offer. It's just that sometimes there are glitches in the system, and the assistant chooses parallel parking when there is only a pocket and vice versa. Moreover, Dargo does not know how to change the format of a parking space on the fly, and if he realizes that he does not fit, he will simply complete his work with an error, stopping in front of obstacles. I note that I only encountered such a glitch a couple of times out of a dozen successful parking sessions, so there is nothing critical here. In addition, the car has an assistant when leaving the parking pocket, but here the assistant simply scans the space and informs you that the path is clear, plus if objects appear in the radar coverage area, the electronics will stop the car. The crossroads assistance system works similarly, which informs you of obstacles and can brake on its own.

Of course, the crossover was not without camerascircular view. The picture displayed on the screen is of high quality, plus there is a markup, the ability to select a camera, and it is possible to spin a virtual car. In general, the system is useful and helps the driver during the parking session. Additionally, the system has a “transparent hood” option that allows you to see what is under your car, it will be useful when driving in difficult road conditions.

Of the unusual driver assistants thatfound so far only in the expensive segment of cars, for example, in BMW, it is worth noting the ability of Dargo to remember the last 50 meters of the road. What is it for? Imagine you drove into a yard densely crowded with cars, drove some distance and saw that the path was closed. You need to get back in reverse, as there is no way to turn around. In Dargo, you just need to press one button, and the car will automatically start moving back exactly along the path that you were moving along before, and then even put the wheels in the position that it was originally before entering this section. An assistant, of course, is not the most demanded and necessary, but believe me, you will be glad that you have one when you find yourself in such a situation.

Summing up, we can safely say thatfilling with electronics Haval Dargo is one of the most interesting cars on our market at the moment. Yes, at some points the manufacturer was too clever, for example, by removing all the options in the media system and not duplicating access to them with physical controls, but otherwise everything is very interesting. There are a lot of useful features here, I especially liked the navigation tips from the smartphone on the projection, as well as the advanced adaptive cruise control and the implementation of displaying its work in graphical mode. A nice bonus would be the presence of a reversing assistant. It is clear that you do not drive into a dead end every day, but if this happens, the electronic assistant will help you out.
