Ground station of the global satelliteGLONASS navigation system will be deployed in Venezuela. A message about this was published on the official website of the state corporation Roscosmos.
“As part of the implementation of the provisions of the agreement betweenGovernment of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on Cooperation in the Exploration and Use of Outer Space for Peaceful Purposes, signed on March 30, 2021 and ratified on June 11, 2022, the Roscosmos State Corporation plans to deploy an uninterrupted measuring station (LIS) of the GLONASS system in Venezuela" , the state corporation said in a statement.
The development of the BIS was carried out by specialistsResearch and Production Corporation "Systems of Precision Instrumentation" (part of "Roskosmos"). The station itself is an element of the addition to the GLONASS system, and its purpose is to provide high-precision navigation for end users using Precise Point Positioning technology.
The message says that the BIS continuously monitorsopen signals of satellite systems GLONASS, GPS, Galileo and Beidou in order to measure current navigation parameters, receive navigation messages from satellites and transmit measurement results and navigation data to the processing center online.
