Global semiconductor shipments up 18% in May

According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), global semiconductor sales in May

this year rose by 18% to $51.8 billion compared to the same period a year earlier. It is noted that sales of semiconductors increased in May and by 1.8% relative to the results of April. In general, the growth trend in semiconductor sales is maintained and will continue. The largest growth was recorded in North America, it amounted to 36.9%, followed by Japan with a growth of 19.8% and Europe with a growth of 16.1%. The growth of deliveries in China was 9.1% compared to the results of last year and 1.7% compared to the results of April. A number of regions intend to make significant investments in the development of their own production of semiconductors; the USA, Japan and Europe have such plans.
