Global Semiconductor Sales Down 3% In September

According to the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA), global semiconductor sales in September

decreased by 3% in annual terms and by 0.5% relative to August. This is the first decline recorded since January. In total, in the third quarter of 2022, $141 billion in semiconductor products were sold on the global market. Quarterly sales decreased by 3% year-on-year and by 6.3% compared to the second quarter of this year. In June, the World Society for Semiconductor Trade Statistics predicted that this year's semiconductor sales will grow by 16.3% by the end of the year, and in total for the year will be sold by $646 billion in semiconductor products. The forecast for 2023 predicted sales of $680 billion, with an increase of 5.1 % relative to the current year. According to their market value, the world's top 100 semiconductor manufacturers are distributed among 5 countries - 42 companies are located in China, 28 companies in the United States, 10 in Taiwan, 9 in Japan and 3 in South Korea.
