Dell Concept Pari standalone webcam can be installed anywhere on the screen (video)

Dell held a pre-eventwith a demonstration of promising developments that will be presented at the upcoming CES 2022. One of the most intriguing innovations created by Dell engineers is the prototype Concept Pari mobile webcam, which can be mounted anywhere on the monitor without the use of connectors and wires.

Webcams became especially popular during the periodthe coronavirus pandemic when conducting remote video conferencing, educational lectures and for working from home. At the same time, the construction and design of the chambers have remained unchanged for many years. The Dell Concept Pari, housed in a cylindrical body, is a mobile wireless camera that can stream from anywhere on the screen. As a result, during video conferencing, it will be possible to provide more comfortable eye contact between the interlocutors.

Dell Concept Pari recharges withusing a special docking station mounted above the monitor or using wireless technologies. Placing the camera anywhere on the screen will allow the interlocutors to look directly into each other's eyes, and not to the side, as is the case with traditional camera placement.

The compact Dell Concept Pari works in1080p resolution, has a built-in microphone, and weighs only about 30 grams. The video is transmitted over Wi-Fi. The end of the camera (opposite the lens) is magnetic and (as far as the monitor allows) can be directly attached to the display. Thus, during a video call, the user will be able to change the position of the camera on the display, placing it next to the virtual face of the person with whom the conversation is being carried out. When the camera is not in use, it can be turned with the lens towards the screen, which will ensure privacy without resorting to electrical tape or special shutters, and the light mark will not allow placing the camera upside down.

However, the developers note that for a full-fledgedthe device needs special screens with a metal back panel hidden behind the display. This technical condition is likely to limit the use of the Dell Concept Pari to dedicated displays from Dell only. There is currently no information on the company's plans to release a standalone camera. More details about the Dell Concept Pari will be revealed in a few weeks at CES 2022.
