Cars Tesla Model S and Model X changed the names, specifications and prices

In January 2019, Tesla has greatly increasedprices of Model S and Model X - they became more expensive by almost 15,000 dollars. It was believed that in this way the manufacturer wants to improve sales of the “budget” Tesla Model 3 or is preparing new modifications with an improved battery architecture. Now everything became clear - the company was preparing to update the line, which consisted in the release of "cheaper" Model S and Model X with limited battery power.

With the release of new modifications, they were updated andnames - now they are much easier to remember. All models are equipped with 100 kWh batteries, but the basic models with the simple names Model S and Model X have reduced power. How low the indicator is, the manufacturer does not report. The cost and characteristics of the most affordable models are as follows:

Model S:

  • Cost: $ 85,000;
  • Power reserve: 498 km;
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h: 4.1 sec.

Model X:

  • Cost: $ 88,000;
  • Power reserve: 434 km;
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h: 4.7 sec.

Cars formerly known as Model S and ModelX 100D, now called “Extended Range”. These are the very models that have risen in price at the beginning of the year - fortunately, the update of the line reduced their cost by $ 1,000.

Model S Extended Range:

  • Cost: $ 93,000;
  • Power reserve: 539 km;
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h: 4.1 sec.

Model X Extended Range:

  • Cost: $ 96,000;
  • Power reserve: 474 km;
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h: 4.7 sec.

The changes affected both the Model S and Model X P100D - from now on they are known as Model S and X Performance. Their prices and features:

  • Cost: $ 112,000;
  • Power reserve: 506 km;
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h: 3 sec.

Model X Performance:

  • Cost: $ 117,000;
  • Power reserve: 465 km;
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h: 3.5 sec.

Lovers of maximum speed are offered modifications Ludicrous Mode, but they are quite expensive:

Model S Performance w / Ludicrous Mode:

  • Cost: $ 132,000;
  • Power reserve: 506 km;
  • Acceleration to 100 km / h: 2.4 seconds.

Model X Performance w / Ludicrous Mode:

  • Cost: $ 137,000;
