Cadillac, part of the automotiveempire General Motors and specializing in the production of premium cars, presented its first production electric car Cadillac Lyriq 2023, the presentation of a prototype of which took place in August 2020. In a short time, Cadillac engineers finalized the concept and, with minimal changes, demonstrated a serial premium electric crossover.
According to one of the leaderscar company, the 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will not only be "the brand's first all-electric car, but also signal the end of the era of combustion engines and a shift towards electric vehicles." It is noteworthy that the electric car of the premium American brand will cost $ 59,990, as expected at the first presentation in the summer of 2020. Cadillac will begin pre-ordering Lyriq 2023 in September this year, and the first production electric crossovers will go on public sale in the first half of 2022.
The design of the serial Cadillac Lyriq 2023 is practicallyis no different from the conceptual "show car" presented in 2020. The changes affected the design of the car doors, the number of seats was increased from 4 to 5, and the diameter of standard wheels was reduced to 20 inches. The overall dimensions of the electric crossover are 4996x1977x1623 mm with a wheelbase of 3094 mm. The boot volume, 793 liters, can be increased by folding the rear seats up to 1723 liters. The mass of the car will be 2545 kg.
The electrocrossover is based on the universalGeneral Motors Corporation's Ultium Drive Platform, which is already used in the branded Bolt EV / EUV and GMC Hummer EV models. The 2023 Cadillac Lyriq will be powered by a rear-wheel-drive electric motor producing 340 hp (255 kW), generating 440 Nm of torque.
12-cell battery packhas a capacity of 100 kWh, which provides up to 480 km of fully autonomous vehicle mileage on a single charge. At present, this value is provided by General Motors, measurements for the EPA cycle are not yet available. The battery pack is a structural element of the chassis, which results in more efficient weight distribution and the lowest center of gravity, which in turn increases the agility and stability of the Cadillac Lyriq 2023.
To replenish energy, Cadillac offersSeveral variants. The fastest way to "charge" batteries with electricity is to use public charging stations with a capacity of 190 kW, which provide up to 122 km after 10 minutes of charging and up to 314 km after 30 minutes of charging. For charging from a household network, a special Cadillac charger with a capacity of 19.2 kW is used, which provides up to 84 km of run after an hour of charging. Recharging energy without a proprietary charging station from a 240 V network will allow you to recharge the car in one hour for 50 kilometers.
The Cadillac Lyriq control system providesUse one pedal of One-Pedal Driving and proprietary Super Cruise for hands-free driving on compatible roads of over 321,000 km (200,000 miles) across the United States and Canada. Located in front of the driver, a 33-inch LED display provides real-time control of all electric vehicle systems and is capable of displaying up to one billion colors.
Sound system AKG STUDIO with 19 speakersProvides accurate, perfect and clear sound without distortion. Some of the speakers are integrated into the front seat headrests. The standard delivery includes a complete set of Cadillac Lyriq 20-inch wheels, but the buyer can optionally purchase 22-inch wheels with branded rims.
2023 Cadillac Lyriq production to be rolled outin early 2022 in the United States at the General Motors plant in Spring Hill, Tennessee. The corporation has already invested $ 2 billion in the re-equipment of factory lines. In the same city, a completely new Ultium Cells battery plant will be built, resulting from a $ 2.3 billion joint investment by GM and LG Energy Solution. According to a Cadillac representative, the price of the car will be $ 59,990. However, when registering subsidies and benefits, the purchase will cost much less.
