This is how Tecno often behaves.The Tecno Pop 5X smartphone appeared on their Mexican site back in January. Tecno Pop 5S - a little later. But the information was scarce and incomplete, so I didn't even begin to get cards of the devices on our website at that time.

Now I've realized that I'm slowing down and I cantry to search for devices on the sites of Mexican stores. Indeed, I found something. There is also a problem with information. But at least the chipset is listed.

Tecno Pop 5S

So. Let's get acquainted.Launched in early 2022 in the land of iguanas and cacti, the Tecno Pop 5S and Tecno Pop 5X smartphones run on Android Go. And for some reason, on a rather ancient one, on the tenth. Perhaps this is somehow related to the stale chipset. If the Mexican stores are not mistaken, then here is the 2018 Unisoc SC9832E. Extremely low power, only a little over 50 thousand points in AnTuTu. Those. with performance, everything is completely sad, but at least there is support for LTE networks.

Screens of various sizes.Tecno Pop 5S is smaller, here the diagonal is 5.71″. Tecno Pop 5X is bigger, it has 6.52″. HD+ resolution. Which one is exactly, understandably bad, tk. The suspects are confused. In the TTX they write 720 * 1520, and in the description - 720 * 1600 (18: 9). And I won’t even find fault with such a trifle that it’s not 18:9 here at all. Although no, I will find fault, I will.

Briefly speaking. I would venture to guess that the Pop 5S has a 720x1520 screen (295 ppi), while the Pop 5X has a 720x1600 screen (269 ppi). This is all inaccurate, but plus or minus not far from the truth.

Tecno Pop 5X

The memory is the same. 2 GB operational, 32 GB permanent. Support for memory cards, of course, is.

Batteries. 3020 mAh for Pop 5S and 4000 mAh for Pop 5X. And no fast charging.

Front cameras. 2 and 5 MP, respectively.

The rear camera of the Pop 5S is formally double, while thePop 5X is technically a triple. But all modules, except for the main ones, have a resolution of 0.08 MP and can be considered decoration with a clear conscience. The resolution of the main modules is 5 and 8 MP, respectively.

Fingerprint scanners. The Pop 5S description says it has a scanner, but the pictures don't. In the description of Pop 5X, on the contrary, it does not say about the scanner, but it is clearly visible in the pictures.

USB is ancient, i.e. micro. Bluetooth either 4.2 or 5.0 - the readings diverge again. Whether there is support for a fifth Wi-Fi is not said.

About money.

Tecno Pop 5S is now 2239 pesos (₽8230, $108).

Tecno Pop 5X is slightly more expensive, 2519 pesos (₽9260, $122).

P.S. As my friend Mobilkin correctly tells me, Tecno Pop 5X is a copy of the Itel Vision 1 Pro smartphone sold in Russia.
