belated. Moto RAZR 2022 is my dream clamshell

An announcement was made in China a couple of days agoclamshell smartphone with a flexible screen Moto RAZR 2022. A direct competitor for Samsung's Flip line, specifically for the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip4. But, again, the question is - will the RAZR crawl out of China or will it remain there?

On the one hand, the new clamshell can be consideredthe heir to the RAZR 5G 2020, released two years ago. By and large, everything is the same, but upgraded to modern realities, and the chipset is now a top, flagship one.

RAZR 2020

On the other hand, the Moto RAZR 2022 is quitereminiscent of the Edge 30 Pro smartphone, from which they took and bent the screen. And the hardware, the main camera, and the main performance characteristics of the screen (diagonal, frequency, resolution) remained unchanged.

Edge 30 Pro

To business. First, about the screens, of course.Like the RAZR 5G 2020, there are two of them. The younger, auxiliary, retained a diagonal of 2.7 ″ (22 cm²), but the resolution and aspect ratio have changed a bit. Now 573x800 (364 ppi).

The main (and flexible) screen has grown from 6.2″ (87 cm²) to 6.7″ (108 cm²). If you forget about flexibility, this is a completely modern top-end screen of classic proportions - 1080 × 2400 (393 ppi). Moreover, the refresh rate is ultra-high - 144 Hz.

With iron, everything is clear.Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 (we are waiting for a million-plus points in AnTuTu, as usual). Memory - from 8 to 12 GB of RAM and from 128 to 512 GB of permanent. Memory cards are of course not supported.

Battery - here Motorola diligently takes an examplewith Samsung - very small, only 3500 mAh. It is clear that they do not want to increase the weight, it is already rather big - 200 grams. But will the smartphone survive until the evening? Charging is moderately fast - 33 watts.

Cameras. The front camera, as usual, is located in a neat round cutout, its resolution is 32 MP. There are two rear cameras, 50 + 13 MP. The first, the main one, with the same OmniVision OV50A sensor that is used in the Edge 30 Pro. Those. everything is quite modest, because Edge is now in the not-so-honorable 75th place in the Dxomark rating. The second camera is a simple wide-angle, part-time trained to work as a macro camera.

In the “Other” section, everything is without surprises. The fingerprint scanner seems to be on the side (although some sources claim that it is hidden under the screen). There is an NFC module, a sixth Wi-Fi, support for 5G networks, etc.

Naturally, not very cheap. ¥5999 (₽54200, $890), ¥6499 (₽58700, $965) and ¥7299 (₽66000, $1080) for the 8+128, 8+256 and 12+512GB varieties respectively.
