Belated. Announcement. Crosscall Core-S4 push-button telephone - with security, Facebook and GPS

The French company Crosscall has put on sale a curious push-button telephone Crosscall Core-S4. Operating system KaiOS 2.5 and almost all possible smartphone capabilities. Plus protection.

This joyful event happened at the end of September. But, as usual, I slow down a bit and am late. But the phone is interesting, it still deserves its news.

Software. For some reason, the latest version of KaiOS is not installed. At the moment, there is already a third one. And here is only version two and a half. This is a minus. Plus - the ability to install "more than 800" applications from the KaiOS Store. In particular, you can enjoy YouTube, WhatsApp, Facebook.

Protection. The standard dust-water-tightness is IP68 - which means full immersion in water is acceptable. The smartphone is said to have passed 15 MIL-TSD-810H tests. A complete list is not provided. But it says about the permissibility of falls from a height of two meters onto a concrete floor and about permissible operating temperatures - from -32 ° C to + 71 ° C.

Iron. The MediaTek MT6731 chipset, which most of us have never heard of. But it is quite “smart phone” in terms of power. But it is tailored specifically for phones, not smartphones. 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of storage.

The screen is quite simple, completely telephone. TN-matrix 2.4 ″, standard resolution 240 × 320, which gives 167 ppi. From the pleasant - they promise great brightness, i.e. good visibility on the street.

The camera is about nothing, only 2 MP. But there is a beautiful flash that can work as a flashlight.

The battery is good, as much as 2300 mAh, which is a lot by the standards of “push buttons”.

Crosscall Core-S4 can work both in LTE networks and via Wi-Fi (though single-band). There is support for GPS / GLONASS, but with a strange postscript “location only” - I don't understand what I mean.

Promise a Very Loud Speaker. The proprietary X-Link technology is supported - a tricky proprietary magnetic sensor for attaching and / or transmitting data (a round one in the middle of the rear surface).

Three-year warranty.

And about money. The MSRP in Europe is € 119.9 (₽9940, $ 139), i.e. like a very simple smartphone.
