Astronauts may enter Hyperson while traveling to Mars

Science Fiction Lovers - Your Time Againit has arrived. This time, scientists from the European Space Agency (ESA) offer to place astronauts in hyperson during the upcoming flight to Mars. Yes, just like in space travel movies. According to ESA experts, astronauts who have to go to Mars can be immersed in a long sleep to prevent fights during the seven months of flight and to avoid running out of resources. According to The Telegraph, Professor Mark McCorin, ESA Senior Researcher, believes the agency is currently seriously considering putting astronauts in a kind of hyperson. Animal experiments are already underway.

Colonization of Mars may be worse than numerous horror films

Obsession with the red planet

Back in 2001, the European Space Agencyestablished the Aurora program with the goal of ultimately sending people to Mars. Currently, the ESA plans to send rovers to the surface of the planet over the next five years, and people should step on the surface of the Red Planet in the mid-2030s. In other words, very soon. In addition to the ESA, the mission to Mars in the next 10 years and the creation of a colony settlement within 50 years is planned to be implemented by the head of SpaceX, Elon Musk, and NASA will take on the first manned mission to a neighboring planet. Given such plans, it is not surprising that experts are seriously considering the most diverse options for the first in the history of our type of travel to other worlds.

SpaceX Starship Prototype

We recently told you about the dangerswhich lie in wait for future colonists - from cosmic radiation, which negatively affects the brain, to the most obvious fact that many skeptics of the colonization of this planet appeal to, there is nothing to breathe on Mars. And this is not to mention the problems with a safe landing - we recall that at least 100 people must be on board the Starship spaceship, presented earlier this year by the Mask SpaceX company. However, all of the above is far from all. ESA researchers conduct experiments on immersing animals in prolonged sleep. Seven months is the real artificial “hibernation” and the question is how to make it safe for humans. One of the main reasons for this decision is the need to save resources, including food. And yet, there are a number of ethical issues in such human trials - who agrees to voluntarily fall asleep for seven months without fully understanding how safe it is? In the end, hyperson requires lowering body temperature, and at the same time reducing oxygen consumption, etc. Look for more news from the world of popular science on our Telegram news channel.

What can be a trip to Mars?

And yet, let's try to imagine how inreality may be a trip to Mars. According to Professor McCorian, we have to overcome huge physical and psychological barriers before astronauts go on a long space journey. The results of previous studies also showed that microgravity damages bone structure, vision, gene expression, and cosmic radiation not only destroys the brain, but can also cause cancer and dementia. Pretty gloomy picture turns out, right?

Perhaps loud statements by entrepreneurs, such as Bezos and Musk are based on the fact that they do not take into account many of the most diverse factors that can affect the flight. Just filling the spaceship with pizza is not the solution to all problems. Imagine that there are 100 people on board a spaceship for a couple of hundred cubic meters. No one can guarantee that for 7 months of flight they will not arrange “hunger games” and do not kill each other. Moreover, the results of studies of the health status of astronauts who spent the year on the ISS do not inspire optimism - their immune system and spatial orientation were seriously impaired, and their muscles were weak. In addition, when astronauts return to Earth, they fall into the caring hands of doctors. And arrival on Mars will certainly not be hospitable.

It’s scary to imagine what future astronauts might be in. Here is a shot from the movie “Interstellar”

And what do you think may be the first space journey in the history of our species? Let's discuss this in the comments and with the participants of our Telegram chat.

Moreover, even if the colonists get todestination, what to do with the radiation situation on Mars? The results of some studies have shown that once on Mars, the probability of getting Alzheimer's disease will be 50%. In other words, space travelers, having barely survived a flight on a spaceship and having lost more than half the crew in seven months, may simply not remember who they are and where they are. And if one of them is lucky and Alzheimer bypasses them, do not forget that even the most mentally stable people can change dramatically when they are isolated for a long time. Isn't this the best storyline for a truly chilling horror movie?
