Apple AirPods 3 and Beats Fit Pro are disposable and non-repairable (video)

IFixit Experts Conducted an Expertisemaintainability of Apple's new wireless earbuds, the AirPods 3 and the more affordable TWS version of the Beats Fit Pro earbuds, created by subsidiary Beats Studio Buds. Both models were launched on the market this fall.

During disassembly, at the very first stage, forpenetrating the Beats Fit Pro case, the specialists needed to grip the headphones in a vice. This compression is required to break the adhesive bond between the two body halves. A thin plate (plectrum) is inserted into the resulting hole. The AirPods 3 headphone case opens slightly easier.

Inside both models, experts found"Organized chaos", from which the "battery sandwich", microcircuits and thin connecting wires can be distinguished. In the process of disconnecting the batteries, both in the AirPods 3 and in the Beats Fit Pro, the specialists had to spend a lot of time and perform quite complex procedures caused by the presence of glue and the small size of the parts.

However, despite the high professionalismiFixit experts and the use of special tools completely failed to disassemble the headphones without damage, and the reverse assembly of the AirPods 3 and Beats Fit Pro was impossible. As a result, both Apple TWS earbuds were awarded 0 out of 10 repairability points.
