Apple or Google: who won the smartphone repairability rating?

Looking at the global economic crisis and the rising cost of electronics in the world, more and more users

want to be able to be independentrepairing your smartphones. However, this process can be quite difficult, and even unscrupulous manufacturers intend to complicate repairs at home. The guys from ElectronicsHub decided to check the maintainability of various devices. They analyzed 228 smartphone repair manuals and shared their findings. It turned out that the easiest way to fix a smartphone Moto G7 from Motorola: the repair takes an average of 25 minutes.

But with modern flagships, things are whereworse. For example, Google's Pixel 7 smartphone has proven to be one of the most difficult to repair, with an average time of 60.3 minutes. But this is not a record either, because as usual, Apple is trying to lead any rating. So, for the repair of brand smartphones, the following time costs will be required:

  • iPhone 12 - 72.2 minutes;
  • iPhone 13 - 67.8 minutes;
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max - 63.2 minutes;
  • iPhone 14 - 47.7 minutes.

Of the artificial difficulties for repair, especiallynon-standard screws and connectors, as well as the need for special tools, are noted. In addition, modern monolithic smartphone cases with non-removable batteries create unnecessary difficulties.
