Announcement. Sony Xperia Pro-I photo smartphone - insanely expensive, magically beautiful

Make a smartphone that is closer to cameras, than smartphones - it's really cool. It's a pity, I'm not so well versed in photography to appreciate all the charms of the Sony Xperia Pro-I. So don't judge me harshly. But one thing I know for sure. The strap hole is exactly what I really always lacked in smartphones when traveling!

By and large, the Sony Xperia Pro-I is the direct heir to the flagship Sony Xperia 1 III. The screen, the battery are all the same. What have you finalized? Cameras, of course.

But before we get to cameras and everything,I want to make a nod to Sony for the touching attention to detail. Screen without cutout. There is a LED. The wide ribbed bezel makes the smartphone (judging by the first reviews) extremely grippy. Is the backside covered in Gorilla glass? Yes, but it's matte! About a bunch of microphones, symmetrical speakers and protection from water and dust according to the IP68 class, I generally keep quiet. They are taken for granted here.

And - cherry - half-press camera shutter button.

Here we come to the cameras.Surprisingly modest for such a monster, the front camera with a resolution of 8 MP. And on the back there are three cameras with a resolution of 12 MP, plus a ToF camera, a flash and several different sensors. Three cameras: main, wide-angle and modest telephoto with 2x optical zoom.

The main camera is a monster with an inch sensorand super large pixels. Sony took the sensor from their compact Sony RX100 VII, modified it with a file in place and stuffed it into a smartphone. And no, I don't know how they did it, because the camera is not flat at all, and the smartphone is completely standard. Has a thickness of 9 mm. Plus the camera sticks out, of course, but just a little.

(To be fair, it should be mentioned that SonyThe Xperia Pro-I is not the first smartphone with an inch sensor. Sharp Aquos R6 went on sale in Japan this year. And back in 2014, a miracle Yudo called Panasonic Lumix CM1 appeared ahead of its time).

We can talk about the Sony Xperia Pro-I camerafor a long time, but let reviewers and photographers, who will have this device on their hands, do it better. I just want to note the presence of a variable aperture - f / 2.0 or f / 4.0 at your choice. Video shooting capability [email protected] Optical stabilization, of course, shooting inRAW ... But the most important thing that I managed to understand from reading first glances is that the Sony Xperia Pro-I is intended for people who are ready to tinker with photography (and video) and experiment. A lot of possibilities, a lot of settings that allow you to achieve all sorts of interesting things. A kind of compact device that is always with you, designed for an extremely limited number of harsh photographers. And for rich originals.

Very briefly about the "smartphone" characteristics. Top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset.12 GB of RAM, 512 GB of storage. Plus there is support for memory cards! The tray, however, is hybrid.

A very elongated 6.5 ″ OLED screen with a resolution of 1644 × 3840 (insane 643 ppi). Plus a refresh rate of 120 Hz.

The battery is quite modest, only 4500 mAh. However, who needs more - those in their backpacks always have a couple of power banks. Charging is moderately fast at 30W.

There's 5G, NFC, Type-C, Wi-Fi 6, a side-mounted fingerprint reader, and even standard audio output.

About sad things, about the price. In Europe, the Sony Xperia Pro-I will cost € 1,799 (₽145,000, $ 2,090). What will it become with us? No information yet. Obviously more than a hundred thousand. Well, let's say ₽139990 ($ 2010). What are your bets?

The smartphone has already been issued for testing by severaltop reviewers. The replenished collection of links to reviews and "first views", as usual, will live on our on the smartphone page. I highly recommend paying attention to the detailed first look from GSMArena. They have already snapped a lot of interesting shots.
