Announcement. Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro are almost flagships without telephoto lenses (+ Ali prices)

Xiaomi announced yesterday a couple of veryserious smartphones. Meet Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro. The devices are very similar - both externally (even the color sets are identical), and in many of their characteristics. So the news will be one for two.

Chipsets.Redmi K50 is our first smartphone based on the MediaTek Dimensity 8100 chipset, and Redmi K50 Pro is the second smartphone based on the chipset. Flagship chips, at the level of top Snapdragons. I don't have reliable statistics on their performance yet. Approximately 800 and 900 thousand points in AnTuTu, respectively. “Nine thousandth”, of course, is more powerful. It is generally positioned as a competitor for Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.

Memory. 8 or 12 GB RAM. 128 or 256 GB permanent. The “firmware” additionally has a variation of 512 GB. There is no support for memory cards.

Frozen with screens.Cooler (and more expensive) just does not happen. Huge OLED matrices with a diagonal of 6.67″ (107 cm²). High resolution 1440×3200 (526 ppi). Although smartphones are not positioned as gaming, the refresh rate is up to 120 Hz, and the sensor polling rate is up to 480 Hz. Plus a protective glass of the latest generation - Gorilla Glass Victus.

Batteries are slightly different. The younger smartphone has a slightly larger capacity, but less charging speed. Although it doesn't matter. And the capacity of both devices is more than decent - 5500 and 5000 mAh, respectively. And the charges are just crazy - 67 and 120 watts.

Cameras. Perhaps the only thing that the new Redmi does not meet the flagship level is their cameras. And it's not just that there are no TVs here.

Let's start with the main modules. The Redmi K50 Pro has a 108MP Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor. You can’t call it top, but it’s still a serious level. But in Redmi K50 they suddenly put a very simple Sony IMX582, which can be found almost in hundred-dollar devices. But, however, in state employees you will not find optical image stabilization. And here she is. But we'll see, of course. Looking forward to reviews.

The rest of the rear cameras are quite simple, we do not expect miracles from them. 8 + 2 MP - wide and macro.

In front there is a new Sony IMX596 sensor with a resolution of 20 MP. What kind of animal this is is not yet very clear.

Other.

Wonderful miracle. The fingerprint scanner was not hidden under the screen. But they could! NFC-modules, of course, are. Plus 5G, Type-C, sixth Wi-Fi, Bluetooth version 5.3. In short, beauty is complete and indescribable.

In China, prices start at ¥2399 (₽39600, $378) for the junior version of Redmi K50. And, as you can see from the plate, the older brother is significantly more expensive.

Smartphones have already appeared on AliExpress (hereyounger, older here). More expensive, of course. From $449 (₽56100). If you suddenly decide to buy, please note that the devices are purebred Chinese. The K50 Pro does not have the 20th LTE band, and the K50 does not even have the 7th.

(Why does the older device have such non-round prices? I'm surprised myself).
