Announcement. Punkt. MC02 – a smartphone that stores everything in Switzerland

Unknown to us Swiss company Punkt.(that’s how its name is spelled, with a period at the end) introduced a smartphone called Punkt. MC02. And it’s so wonderful that I can’t help but share it with you.

In terms of hardware there is a typical modern average. But more on that later. The trick is not in the hardware, the trick is in the software.

Swiss means reliable. Swiss bank, Swiss cheese, Swiss doorman. What else is Swiss? Oh, okay.

The operating system is something called Apostrophy OS. Apostrophy OS is based on GrapheneOS. Which used to be called CopperheadOS. And in the depths of it all, of course, lives AOSP.

What's the trick? And here. “All data stored under Swiss jurisdiction” - “All data is stored under Swiss jurisdiction.”

What about Google? There are no services. Applications for installation will be available, but through a sandbox (“GMS Wizard”). In short, everything is very, very safe. None of your data will leak anywhere.

Wonderful. But there is one thing.Everything is very expensive in Switzerland. So you have to pay to use Apostrophy OS. The first year, however, is included in the price of the device. Well, then if you please, shell out 15 francs (₽1530, $16.7) every month.

About the characteristics of the smartphone.

The already outdated MediaTek Dimensity 900 chipset (~450K in AnTuTu). Memory 6+128 GB (plus hybrid tray).

Screen without high refresh rate. IPS matrix with a diagonal of 6.67″ (107 cm²). The resolution is normal, 1080x2400 (395 ppi).

The battery is excellent, 5500 mAh. Wired charging is slightly faster, 18 W. There is also wireless charging – also 18 W.

I wouldn't expect anything good from the cameras. 24 MP front, 64+8+2 MP rear.

There is a barometer, an NFC module, and a side fingerprint scanner. 5G networks are, of course, supported.

Cost Punkt. MC02 will be 699 Swiss francs (₽71,200, $780).
