Announcement. Onyx Boox Kon-Tiki, namesake of the most famous raft in the world

“My Little Raft” Onyx Boox Kon-Tiki. A fresh little device for reading electronic books, designed for those who are not enough classic six inches.

Onyx Boox Kon-Tiki is very similar to the announcedIn March 2020, the ONYX Boox Nova2 reader. The only difference visible to the naked eye is the lack of a stylus on Kon-Tiki. And, accordingly, the screen is simpler. The sensor is not induction-capacitive, but simply capacitive.

Once simpler, there is hope that cheaperKon-tiki will be. Because Nova2 is not a budget device at all. The current retail price is ₽33,990 ($ 488). Con-Tiki, on the other hand, comes with a case, but Nova2 doesn't. Well, let's see. The official cost has not yet been announced, but the wait is clearly not long.

Let's go through briefly on the characteristics. The most interesting thing is, of course, the screen. Ink, E-Ink Carta Plus. Large, but not prohibitive - 7.8 ″. Very high by the standards of such devices resolution, 1404 × 1872 (300 ppi). The sensor is classic capacitive. Improved (compared to last year's models) MOON Light 2 backlight with color temperature adjustment.

The processor model is traditionally not indicated. Something eight-core with a frequency of 2 GHz. Most likely, this is an old Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 (2016). However, by the standards of electronic books, the chipset is more than peppy.

A lot of memory. Both operational - 3 GB, and permanent - 32 GB. Apparently, there is no support for memory cards. But there is a modern USB Type-C. Most likely, with OTG support (if it was with Nova2, then why not Kon-Tiki?)

Battery capacity 3150 mAh.

Soft As an operating system, we have Android 9.0 Pie here. Of course, all modern electronic text formats are supported. You can install various software designed for Android. Although, alas, there is very little such software that can work beautifully with slow sixteen-color screens.

Declared support for sound files (mp3, wav). But there is neither a standard 3.5 mm audio output nor an external speaker. So only if via Bluetooth. Well, or via USB, you can also try.
