The first thing to note is the colorsolutions. It seems to me that no modern smartphone in any price category has five color options. Yes, even if you find such a device, it is not a fact that it will be available in all these colors. But the Apple iPhone 14 Plus is easy to find in: black, purple, white, red and blue.

Judging by Yandex Market, it is most difficult to find in white and purple. There are enough offers to buy black and blue.

If you put your smartphone in a case, thentake any color. If you are not going to put on protection, then I recommend blue, purple. Because on the other devices on the rear panel, traces of operation are too noticeable.

Unfortunately, I did not have the opportunity to use the iPhone 13 Pro Max and 14 Pro Max, but the iPhone 14 Plus version seemed quite comfortable to me, despite the chopped edges.

I already said that I didn’t like the iPhone 12 at all with its sharp edges. In the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, it seems to me that the edges of the edges are slightly rounded. The phone does not dig into the palm.

The dimensions of the iPhone 14 Plus are impressive - 160 x 78 x7.8 mm. Especially if you pay attention to the width of the device. If earlier I advocated elongation of gadgets, now I like devices with an aspect ratio close to 16:9 or even more square. The fact is that the content has a certain structure, which is still better adapted to a 3: 2 format.

In the iPhone 14, I selected the painted frames and the backpanel that resembles plastic. In the case of the iPhone 14 Plus, somehow you pay less attention to this. Perhaps because the weight is just over 200 grams (together with a SIM card 203.7 grams). A picture is built in my head that a heavy smartphone cannot be made of plastic.

Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Apple iPhone 14 Plus

In general, the phone is wide, rather heavy, but,oddly enough, quite comfortable. It also looks like a tablet. Probably because the front panel is completely flat and occupies a large area. For if you take any modern smartphone with a large screen diagonal, then the display will definitely be of the Waterfall type. Lord, put the right “patterns” into the hands of designers!

Separately, it is worth mentioning the degree of protection IP68. There are very few such devices on the smartphone market. However, the other day, Xiaomi released the 13 and 13 Pro modules with the same protection. Finally.

I don’t consider myself a person with hands growing from the fifth point, but if you take a smartphone, then I’m not afraid of some water.

Minuses:

1. Oleophobic coating. It's low quality here. What is on the front of the smartphone, what is on the back panel.
2. Scratches. They appear out of nowhere.

Vibration

As you know, everything is more or less modernApple phones are equipped with Taptic Engine linear vibration motors. A cool thing that makes it possible to tactilely feel some kind of manipulation with the gadget.

In the Apple iPhone 14 Plus, the motor feels a little weaker than in the iPhone 14. I don’t know what sizes they are, they probably put the same one in the 14 Plus as in the 14.

In any case, it works gently, pleasantly,unobtrusively. Many Android manufacturers overdo it with motor power. You can't do that, you need a balance. Or adjustment, as in Asus Zenfone 8/9 and some other gadgets.

Face ID

No matter what anyone says, but Apple technologyFaceID is power! With the iPhone, I don’t bother with whether the screen is unlocked for sure? On Android smartphones, I ask this question almost every time I pick up the phone. Of course, the "green robot" still has a fingerprint scanner. He helps.

However, FaceID works across the entire iOS system. Password storage, unlocking, banking applications and so on.

Well, Huawei released its mate 50 Pro with a similar system. And it has only one function - to unlock the screen. But at least this device does it really accurately.

Personally, I find it inconvenient to use curved displays. I explained - why - many times already: starting with false positives, ending with the UI interface overlapping on the curved edges of the glass.

Another non-obvious point is scaling.If everything is large in the iPhone 14, then more information “fits” into the 14 Plus screen. This is very noticeable in applications: for example, in Yandex Mail, Avito, VK, and even in a browser. Moreover, it is done in such a way that you do not experience discomfort: the data is easy to read, but there are a lot of them.

I said earlier that the 14 Plus is like a tablet. I'll say it again: a flat screen, a large diagonal, a compact scale - everything is like a tablet.

A similar impression was from Nothing Phone (1). But there the device itself is too peculiar in terms of optimization. It's a pity.

In general, more or less normal indicators. Not perfect, but you can live. Better only with Huawei and some Xiaomi devices.

Among other things, the width of the device plays a role -normal large keyboard that is easy to use. And the last thing: on iOS, the keyboard behaves as correctly as possible. What I mean? On Android - no matter how much I tried keyboards (Google, Yandex, Microsoft) - everyone periodically swallows letters. For example, typing "Hello" very quickly results in "Hi" very often. It's like the app doesn't recognize touch. In iOS, you can quickly type on the keyboard without these errors.

I am sure that at this moment you ran to write an angry comment, saying that my hands are crooked. But if it's the same on Android, suggest solutions other than swipe!

Autonomy

Apparently, the Apple iPhone 14 Plus has a 4300 mAh battery. For Android devices, this capacity can be used in budget smartphones with small screen sizes.

In the first three days of using the iPhone 14 Plus, at some points I put the device on wireless charging, because the battery ran out on the third day and there was still 2-5% left.

Further noted that the smartphone is discharged inmy conditions of use are approximately 30% -35% per day (from 10.00 to 03.00). This surprised me greatly. Indeed, on Android, such figures are only found on smartphones with a 6000-8000 mAh battery.

On average, I got about 7 hours of screen glow per day.

With the iPhone 14 Plus, I didn't care about battery life at all. Even if it showed 25-30%, then I knew that the device would definitely survive until the end of the day.

Communication and voice

It seemed to me that this model is not good friends withcellular connection. Maybe it coincided, but it was on the iPhone 14 Plus that at home it showed one division out of four. This did not affect the quality of communication in any way, but it was unpleasant to realize that just about - and the network would disappear altogether.

Separately, I would like to cancel digital voice processing on the iPhone 14 Plus. Either I didn't notice it before, or Apple did something with iOS.

The fact is that the voice when talking on the phone,Whatsapp or Telegram is processed so that you hear a midrange, clear and intelligible sound. But it is slightly digital, as if the Compressor filter was applied, like in Adobe Pemiere.

On the one hand, it's bad, since this is processing, and the voice becomes a little unnatural. On the other hand, it's good, as the voice becomes more intelligible, dense, without echo, with a beautiful timbre.

Cameras

As you can see, they haven't changed in any way.compared to the iPhone 14. In my opinion, the devices shoot mediocre. This is the level of smartphones for 15,000 - 25,000 rubles, nothing more. But this is if we look at the photo.

There are no complaints about the video at all. Yes, they never existed for any of the Apple iPhones. Devices always filmed videos on 5 out of 5:

About performance

As usual, no problem.Actually, they were not in other Apple devices either. Especially in 14 and 14 Plus, the screen frequency is 60 Hz. The performance of the 14 series is enough for another 5 years for sure. Well, or until Apple itself starts specifically “killing” the speed of gadgets with firmware.

Therefore, a potential buyer of Apple products can safely take at least an iPhone 13, 12 or even 11. The main thing is that the battery shows at least 85% capacity.

As for the system, it is stable.But! I have noticed that third party software has gotten worse in quality. For example, the Uefy video call app works worse on iOS than it does on Google Android. Similarly with the Yandex browser.

About sound

It is the same as in the Apple iPhone 14. I like it: loud, clear, deep, voluminous, with bass notes.

Impression

In terms of usage, the Apple iPhone 14 Plus differs from the iPhone 14:

1. With a larger screen, you get more information on a smaller scale. It is more convenient to type text.
2. The operating time is 1.5 - 2 hours longer. Model 14 Plus works up to 3 days.
3. Screen brightness is higher in all modes.

I didn't really like the design of the cameras.Somehow a little childish, not serious. Therefore, I would either take the iPhone 14 Pro Max, or not show off and buy a used iPhone 13 Pro Max on Avito. There is also a screen frequency of up to 120 Hz.

I had 5 smartphones in my hands for reviews.But I used the iPhone 14 Plus because it seemed more convenient to me: a flat screen, fast text input on the built-in iOS keyboard without errors, FaceID and smooth system operation.
