A new species of snake has been discovered that can attack without even opening its mouth.

From time to time, researchers discover completely unknown species of animals - for example, recently in the African country of Guinea snakes were discovered that can sprinkle poison at enemies without even opening their mouth. The new species is called Atractaspis branchi, and it is better to stay away from them, because the venom in all directions causes severe pain and swelling.

The unusual ability of snakes is related to the fact thatlong canines can be pushed out of the corners of the mouth - so they can attack with poison even people who are trying to sneak up from behind. This is exactly how a group of scientists acted, and in vain when trying to take a snake by the head, one of the scientists suffered severe cell damage, which caused swelling, blistering and severe pain. If they didn’t have an antidote, amputation would not be enough.

The researchers said that the snake either slowlydeparted from them, or jumped from side to side for a distance equal to the length of her body. For reference, the length of the snake is about 30 centimeters. Within a radius of 27 kilometers, they managed to find two more individuals - all of them had a thin and strong body and a rounded head.

Researchers believe that these snakes live intropical forests that are already on the verge of extinction due to human activities and climate change. Researchers intend to find more individuals and find out whether they are threatened with extinction or not.
