Canadian scientists have developed PocketView -innovative LED display showing information through clothing or any fabric. According to the developers, PocketView can function as a standalone technology or be embedded in existing or next generation smart devices.

Application of technology created in CanadianUniversity of Waterloo, will make it easier for users of modern gadgets to receive the simplest messages and important information, such as the current time or weather forecast. Information can be obtained without removing a smartphone or tablet from a pocket or briefcase.

The novelty, dubbed PocketView, is essentiallyis an LED panel that can be integrated into garments. After receiving notifications or important information, the user, without removing the gadgets, will be able to quickly familiarize themselves with the message, broadcast with high brightness, which allows light to penetrate the fabric. The developers also offer some more practical ways to use PocketView. In particular, displays built into clothes or shoes can act as a kind of guide signaling the need to turn left or right when moving along a given route.

According to the developers from the universityWaterloo, the main idea of the invention is the transmission of information that previously the user could only see on the display of a smartphone. The novelty shows the main information, implemented in a minimalist form. As a result, the PocketView user will be able to follow a given route or receive a notification without being distracted from the main work. During training, the athlete will also be able not to be distracted by counting the distance traveled or the number of laps.
