Eight years later, unreleased Sony PlayStation Phone2 gaming smartphone discovered (4 photos)

Smartphone developers continuouslyexperimenting with cabinet designs, adapting them to different functions. In 2011, Sony launched its first gaming smartphone Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, presented in a slider form factor.

At that time, the original smartphone did not becomepopular, which can be explained by the small number of game applications for Android. However, the following year, insider information appeared about the preparations for the release of the second smartphone of the Xperia Play 2 series. Later, the company stopped working on gaming smartphones, and the first Sony Ericsson Xperia Play was discontinued.

Now, after eight years, there arephotos that, according to the author of the post on the Xperia subreddit, show a prototype of the Xperia Play 2 or PlayStation Phone 2. The author said that he took a photo of the device in a Chinese used electronics store, part of the Alibaba network, in which he was assured that they have "Communications in the technology industry."

Case design of the alleged Xperia Play 2practically repeats the original and released in a slider form factor. On the sliding panel you can see the buttons standard for the PlayStation, and the smartphone has the Xperia logo. The smartphone also has a mysterious "3D" button, which may have been necessary to implement functions similar to the stereoscopic display on the Nintendo 3DS. An indirect confirmation of the prototype's authenticity can be the presence of touch buttons on the front panel of the smartphone, instead of physical ones, which corresponds to the design of Xperia at the time.
